The Word of Notch: AKA "This is my personal blog, so it's like 95% shit you don't care about"

Anyone else notice this?
Constant "Hey the money you guys gave me just went into some $500 plane tickets, woohoo, I'm having fun here on this beach while you wait for updates" or "lol meeting with another game company to discuss how large my e-peen is." I'm not asking for him to devote his entire life to the game, but god damn, the game isn't done. Can we see weekly progress? Can you start doing major monthly patches? There's a full team of guys behind you and there appears to be less progress than a year ago when it was just Notch. It's just a little frustrating.
It's his personal blog.

So I should be satisfied that the developer is okay with not giving us any updates on progress whatsoever when he doesn't feel like it.
Holy shit he made a game! That suddenly means because I gave him 15 dollars I own him and control his life!
AKA: Developer decides to be an active part of his own game's community rather than just leave people in the dark, and as a reward people bitch at him for not satisfying their overly demanding desires for instant gratification and bi-daily content updates.
Go bitch to a non-indy dev about not telling you enough during a game's development and see how they react.
Fucking self-entitlement non stop with Minecraft "fans".
Notch and his team are too busy working on Scrolls.
Because you know how excited we all are for Scrolls.
Can't wait for Scrolls.
Minecraft pales in comparison.
Finally someone has an original idea. I mean really, a Fantasy Card Game? Why hasn't anyone thought of this before?
i haven't given enough shits about scrolls to even find out what it is exactly

You seem to have either not read my exceedingly long OP or simply confuse me with the kinds of people who do wish for bi-daily content updates. I was afraid I'd get the automatic response minecraft fans seem to pull out whenever someone asks for more than small monthly content patches.
I always have enjoyed reading his blog post, relative to minecraft or not, sometimes I think he goes too far into his personal life talking about his vacations and leisure shit he does which sorta makes it seem like he puts all the development in the hands of the rest of the dev team. Instead of writing about random shit he should promote community projects/mods/maps more often like he used to do.
The fact is most developers take ages longer to do anything than Notch does, and they often do a little something called "Label it as DLC and make you pay for it."
The fact is Notch has no commitment to fill everyone in on every piece of progress they make, and they surely have no commitment to only use his personal blog for Minecraft.
And to the people who complain about scrolls, consider how stupid your complaining would sound if you went to major game devs and told them they were idiots for not only working on the one game you like.
I don't really care that he posts about things like that, I just wonder if he realizes no one really gives a shit unless they actually know him irl.
The only thing I don't understand is why Notch tells us things that usually enrage the majority of us. Back in the day the rich used to live behind tall walls and iron gates to keep Commoners from flying into a rage at how much wealth they had and ripping their heads off.
But Notch actively tells us about his obscure holidays. "It's my Grandmothers 63rd Birthday so we're going on a cruise for the next two weeks." - "Going to go see my Mother in Law in Ireland." - "Taking a vacation, won't be back to the office in a week, going to go ski in the mountains."
That side it REALLY bothers me how much Notch wants to make Scrolls. Scrolls is the game Notch wants that none of us need. It's another generic fantasy card game and literally no one cares about it because we just want more Minecraft.
I read one interview that made me rage so hard where he said "We plan to release more information on Scrolls soon, I know people are looking forward too that." But he's delusional because no one cares. And I'm pretty sure he's got his development team roped into somehow.

Yeah, not really pal.
Mad?
Make a dumb thread about it.

Also wow there was a huge 50 minute long video and also other little video snippets of 1.8 features and you're still whining???

Maybe Scrolls will be cool or more interesting when there's some actual info on the gameplay. I'm not making any judgements until I see it in action.

He never uploaded any of those to his blog proper, I don't think it counts if we're just talking about his blog.
And precisely because of this reason I haven't seen any of these videos yet. Can you link me?
Minecraft fans are the worst in the world, in the scheme of things, the fact that he posts non-minecraft related things on his personal blog is really a very small thing to get annoyed about and you just come across as a whinging little bitch

Doesn't look promising at all.

You would have gotten more respect if you had of gone about making this thread in a more mature manor.
This thread makes me rage so much more than anything Notch has done.
First off, don't make a thread to complain please
Back in the day, notch did have a lot of updates. "Added doors!". He added very trivial and simple things to the game because they were easy and essential. But at this point most of those things are out of the way and he has to code bigger things. I do admit, he should do more updates and he should be getting more things done. He does have other projects though, and he tries to keep the game interesting by only coding when he wants to (It is selfish, but it keeps him from half-heartedly adding content that is crappy)
Also, I like personal blogs. I'm not sure why but I really like to know what is going on in the loves of people I have nothing to do with.
I don't think the OP knows what "personal blog" means.
The Shaft team seems to like scrolls, because whenever someone says it, they yell SCROLLS.
Maybe they are why Notch wants to make it.
I don't think the OP knows what "personal blog" means.
I think the OP got hit over the head with a brick, who the fuck does he think he is telling people what to do.
oh my god
PEOPLE ARE FUCKING DYING and this is what you decide to post about?
Dying? Wha?

As much as you're right, this isn't exactly a news board. :P

For your information I am quite looking forward to notch's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
