Gamescom 2011 in Cologne, Germany - 17th - 21st August 2011 - Games

It is the kind of equivalent of the E3, but this time everyone is invited to visit this event. This event goes from 17.08.2011 to 21.08.2011. However the first day is press only. Still 4 days for everyone to visit from 18.08 on. Kind of every known games developer/publisher is going to attend this year, beginning with EA over Bethesda to Valve. But not only games devs/publishers are attending, a huge variety of games Magazines, Case building/modding teams to e-sports leagues are also present during this time. Gamescom is incredible. Been there last year and it's totally worth it. More floorspace than e3. Not too much cosplay. Many many games. Girls. Yep, couples instead of lonely nerds. However, i didn't get to check out the halls well because i was mainly at the closed business section checking out the new games (diablo 3 unlimited playtime ftw). That was awesome (and huge) too. I would've maybe gone this year too but too many of our team can't afford the money. I took this photo probably halfway this huge hallway with the halls connecting to it. I think till 12 on the first public day is free time for press to roam.
