F1 2010 About F1 2010 is an upcoming video game based on the 2010 season of the Formula One motor racing series. It is the sequel to the 2009 video game based on the same series. It will be released in September 2010 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows platforms. The game was confirmed by Codemasters on 23 April 2009. The game engine is based on the new EGO 1.5 engine, an unoffically titled evolution of the EGO 1.0 engine that was created specially for the title. F1 2010 will feature "the most complicated weather system ever seen in a racing game" which is integral to F1. When rain starts to fall, the track will gradually lose grip, with some areas losing grip faster than others. "Overhanging trees, for example, will shelter the track, while dips and indentations in the tarmac will hold more standing water and provide a greater risk." When the rain stops, a "drying line" will start to appear which will provide more grip which will make it easier to drive. If a car strays from the dry line, the tyres will lose grip and it will be harder to drive. Evolving track will also be featured elsewhere in the game; at the start of a race weekend, the track will be "green" and therefore have less grip, but as the weekend progresses, rubber will be laid down onto the track, increasing the grip. Research will also feature in F1 2010. Consistently out-race a teammate, and the player will receive new parts, updates and upgrades as they are developed. The player's team will develop new parts and updates for their car throughout the season, evolving the car as the season progresses. The game will feature a career mode consisting of either three, five or seven seasons (depending on the user's choice). Where players can drive for any team, each having their own objectives – "For example, race for Ferrari and anything other than winning the Driver's and Constructor's Championship would be a failure, while a mere points finish when driving for Lotus would be a huge success." Media interest will also differ depending on whether the player is racing for one of the top teams, or a team at the back of the grid and will reflect the progress the player makes; more success will equal more media attention. Impromptu interviews will take place alongside the official interviews following each race. The developer diaries released by Codemasters have revealed that impromptu interviews will be more sensationalist than formal press conferences and that the player may need to be wary of what they say to the media lest they say something they shouldn't and upset their team. Players will be forced to retire after the end of the third, fifth, or seventh season. F1 2010 will feature all 24 drivers and 12 teams who started the 2010 season. Mid-season replacement Sakon Yamamoto is not included. All 19 circuits on the 2010 F1 calendar will be included in the game. Since it's a Formula 1 game, I certainly hope their physics is radically different to what's in Dirt and Grid. The physics in those two games really doesn't suit Formula 1. I presume they've got support for full length races, complete with tire changes and such?
It looks fantastic graphically. I hope they bring out a demo for all 3 platforms so I can try it.
Oh god, it's been years since I've played a F1 game. I'd play a demo. Looks great too.

At Spa, a race that has changing weather conditions.. you have to be the hero and decide the right time to change the tire. 10,000th thread in GGD!:toot: Now as for the game, I'm going to keep an eye on this. If I decide to get it, it would be my first racing game as well. :buddy:
I have always liked Formula One games purely because they are so fast and technical. The fact this new one is made by Codemasters only makes me want the game more because they are above and beyond every other racing game developer simply because they know how to grip the player with something other than racing. Where Forza and Grand Turismo fall short is the fact that, while the feel of the driving is good, there is no feel for the sport of driving. It's just race after race with no connecting motives or narrative and, therefore, the games quickly get dull for the non die-hard driving fans.
Really excited for this.
Need to get an xbox controller or something better than a keyboard, then i'm getting this.
was thinking of getting a g25/g27 for this but it seem a bit of a waste unless there are some old school cars modern f1 cars are automatic, might as well wait until tdu2 comes out to get a wheel
I just want to race Spa, love that circuit. [editline]03:04PM[/editline] damn automerge [editline]03:05PM[/editline] Oh man, G27 looks awesome.

Once you get past the uninteresting 2-3 lap races which are over in minutes, suddenly it's actually like racing. Rather than trying to crash your way into first place, you end up instead thinking about strategy. Things like whether it's worth putting your foot down and going after the guy in front of you, or defending your position and take him when he's changing his tires. The connecting motive is competition. You strive to be the best. Finishing ahead of a challenging opponent is more satisfying than any trophy. The FIA have banned just about everything automated including automatic transmission, traction control, ABS and launch control. I own a G25 myself, and I've found it's the greatest wheel I've ever used. 900 degrees of rotation, excellent force feedback, paddle shifting, sequential shifting, and H-pattern shifting... If you don't want the sequential shift stick, then I'm sure a G27's the way to go.
I think I might pick myself up one of these. I really can't afford a G27 and I play way more DiRT 2 than anything else (and no doubt DiRT 3 when it comes out) so a sequential stick is great for me. Also, I'll probably end up getting Gran Turismo (mainly for the WRC stuff) so I can use it for that too. Can anyone give me a reason to make me not spend that money?

G27 is waaay too expensive. [editline]03:19PM[/editline]
http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/gaming/wheels/devices/4172
That looks good, going to look at some reviews and stuff for that.
Codemasters have always delivered with their past racing games, so I have high expectations for this one.
There isn't gonna be a demo.
That's kind of lame.

The racing in those games is infinitely better than anything in DiRT or GRID (GRID is fucking broken once you get past the GT1 cars anyway*). There's just something that keeps me coming back to DiRT especially. *The AI is just wrecked on most of the tracks. They brake horribly for flat-out corners (they brake for the chicane at Spa despite the fact it's flat-out) and yet manage to take a lot of corners that shouldn't be flat-out without braking. It's all a design feature that attempts to bunch up the cars and make for more crashes to make the game more interesting.
well semi auto is more accurate wording, there is no clutch and making a g25/g27 a bit pointless and the whole of modern f1 is technology over skill
This looks awesome! will probably get it for 360
I'm a huge F1 fan but I will test it before I buy it, a friend of mine will buy it short after release, there I will have a look. Finally racing with Schumacher again.
Logitech Driving Force GT is what I used before I got this G25. The gear stick's not particularely nice on it, however it's a perfectly good wheel otherwise. 900 degrees lock to lock, good force feedback. If a g25's out of your price range, a DFGT's deffinately a good alternative.
Can you change the wheel on the G25 to something else? I'm not too bothered about paddle shifters. G27 is waaay too expensive.
How do you mean? There's all sorts of modifications you can make, and several people who will fit stuff like LCD displays onto one for you. But if a G27's out of your price range, so is that. Out of the box, however, there's no changes you can make.
well semi auto is more accurate wording, there is no clutch and making a g25/g27 a bit pointless and the whole of modern f1 is technology over skill
There is a clutch, silly. It's just operated from the wheel. There's usually a third paddle for the clutch, and in some cases I think there's two clutch paddles (one on each side). Technology plays a large role in Formula 1, however it still relies a lot more on driver skill than people seem to credit it for.

Oh right. I think it would be possible, others have done it before. However I wouldn't know where to start. You'd be better off doing your own research, to be honest.
This game looks amazing, looking forward to it but i want to get a better whell before i play it. [editline]04:52PM[/editline] Oh god Spa wet looks sexy. But i don't like the race engineers voice.
I don't like perfect steering. reminds me too much of daily life. I want to go into corners at a screeching 200 Mph and come out the other side painted with gore.
Looks great and I'll be getting it. The only thing that sucks is the multiplayer, grid size is only going to be max 12 cars I think, which is a bit poo.
Looks great and I'll be getting it. The only thing that sucks is the multiplayer, grid size is only going to be max 12 cars I think, which is a bit poo.
It would just be a clusterfuck of greifers making you purposely crash, like in GRID, what does it matter.
Lol people play racing games online? There's no need - it adds nothing to the experience. They're full of people deliberately crashing and glitchers who know how to skip half a circuit out of their lap time.
