Hello , recently my cousin bought Portal 2. On his PC it was running like a charm . Anyway , after trying to download it , and failing , i bought it too. Everything was goo until i installed it . Everything worked on the menu . I was unsing the lowest settings . When i started to play , the loading screen went poof and the game crashed to Windows. Now , let me show you my system.
CPU:Pentium 4 single core with 3GHz.
RAM:1GB
OS:Windows 7 Proffesional Edition Service Pack 1 , 32-bit
Video Card:ATI Radeon x300/x550/x1050 Series (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM) (Pixel shader 2.0 , Vertex shader 2.0 , and 383.2MB video RAM)
About the space on my HDD , i have the space and sound devices.
The question is , can i "break" the minimum settings and get the lowest settings possbile , without crashing?
Sorry for english , i'm not american .

Afraid not, your graphics card doesn't support pixel shader 3.0, which is needed. Sorry, but the only thing you can do is return it or upgrade your computer.
I think that you'd just be better off getting an upgrade anyway, you're lucky to be able to play anything after 2007.
Isn't Pixel Shader 2.0 the minimum?
You're not gonna be running much of anything with a video card like that.

Well perhaps I'm wrong, but your graphics card is ancient. Maybe your CPU can run it (don't get your hopes up) but that graphics card is lucky to run much nowadays. It's just too old, the whole thing is.
I'm surprised your system even runs Windows 7. haven't seen a system like yours for years now, that's incredibly dated and most likely won't run anything at lowest settings these days.
Right now i really don't care about the new games like Aassassins Creed 4 or Battlefield 4. I played the first Portal and i really liked it . Now i want to see what Chell is doing in Portal 2.

Indeed, well, Portal 2 has a new engine, and although it is possible to be maybe a little under the minimum, you are so under it I'm surprised steam even let you install it.
You're either going to have to borrow your cousin's pc or get an upgrade, I'm sure in the Hardware section of this forum, there will be people only too happy to help you get a decent pc that could play it at a decent price.
