• New Xbox Dashboard Soon
VentureBeat got an early preview and had generally positive things to say: “Overall, it’s a big improvement on the user interface.” The upgrade is all about making the process of accessing content much faster and making content more discoverable. This is especially important because of the growing amount of content on the Xbox 360, which has already gone way beyond just games. The interface redesign looks like a step towards merging Xbox LIVE with Windows Phone 7 and Windows 8. The new dashboard interface uses large tiles that are reminiscent of the Windows Phone 7 Live Tiles and the scrolling is sideways rather than up and down, similar to what we’ve seen with the Windows 8 tablet UI. The update also brings more Kinect integration for improved speech and gesture commands, a new Beacon feature for non-expiring game invitations to friends, a more integrated and less restricted Microsoft Bing search, and YouTube support. Again? I keep getting used to them only for them to change it a few months later.
It's a console not a fucking phone.
Sounds lousy, this current dashboard is fine.
I liked the one before the current one. I never asked for my dashboard to be the Wii 2.0. Also I don't like seeing ads when I pay for XBL and am thus giving them money anyway.
Doesn't bother me. There have been ads since the original Xbox. A lot of them a pretty cool, too.
I didn't know that you got ads on something you pay for. (if you can't tell I don't own an xbox) Hmm... What the fuck are you ACTUALLY paying for with live?

Again?
The average person spends what, like 3 minutes a week looking at the xbox dashboard? I wish they would make a xbox live party system that didn't crash every 5 minutes.

So what the fuck you're actually paying for with live is online multiplayer, pretty much.
Carcarcargo took the words right out of my mouth.
Again? I keep getting used to them only for them to change it a few months later.
Gotta keep things fresh so they can get that extra $50 a month!

Not trying to start any x vs y arguments here, just wondering what justifies it in the minds of xbox owners.
It's a console not a fucking phone.
kinect
I liked the first dashboard. It was simple, ergonomic, and most importantly felt like an actual xbox dashboard. With the second version they just downright copied the ps3/psp style, the third version was the same version only uglier, and now this. At least with the actual dashboard you still had a controller version AND a kinect version, here it looks like it's made for Kinect only. How am I going to go through that with a damn DPAD.
Not trying to start any x vs y arguments here, just wondering what justifies it in the minds of xbox owners.
Probably a matter of security. The PSN got recently hacked, mainly because sony decided to cut funds on the online's security. Since the very beginning of the ps3 and xbox 360 it has always appeared to me that Microsoft had put much more effort into customer service than sony.
The blades dashboard was the best one. It was original to the Xbox instead of just trying to clone all the other consoles like they do now. It was simple and fast, only reason they changed it was to cater to Wii fans/extra advertising I bet.
Ha, useless observation but the account's name in the screenshot is newtoN backwards.
shit the current one just started to grow on me, too
From what I read, the new dashboard sounds great.
Its Poo Poo. Old dashboard was fine but then you had to make an extremely white one that would burn into the damn tv!
As a Windows Phone user, I am quite excited for htis update, because it looks like I'll actually be able to do something with my phone and 360 together( noting the windows phone people hub)... this could come in handy...
If anyone wants to see what it looks like they were showing it off at E3 They probably have made a few changes since then but it will be about the same.
Basically Microsoft's shitty version of XMB?
I hope they stick with this new one. No more new dashboards.
Does getting a new dashboard really effect anyone so greatly? I might use my xbox dashboard once a month and when I buy arcade games its via xbox.com so I almost never use it.
not a big deal, i remain optimistic
Basically Microsoft's shitty version of XMB?
Yes except is clunky, in your face, and all around poo poo.

As long as you have Kinect indeed. But I doubt it's anywhere near comfortable with a controller.
