Most commonly, a league is a group of teams organized to promote interest and competition between teams. Leagues usually come with a ranking system which to encourage competition, this Dota 2 League will have. [U][B] So how do I join? [/B][/U] Easy. Add me on Steam via my profile icon under my avatar and post your team details and members in this thread. Simple enough. The only condition is that your team needs all 5 member slots filled to be registered but can have 6 in total. If not, your team will be registered as incomplete and cannot participate in ranked matches. Every team is allowed to have as many stand-ins as they want but for ranked matches, only one stand-in is allowed. [B][U]UPDATED 05/04/13[/U][/B] - FraudSprite Clause - If there is no time in the week where you can schedule your match due to needing more then one stand in, additional stand ins are allowed. Posting the average timezone is also encouraged if you'd like to play a match with a random team. Easy as pie. A quick note: Stand-ins/Substitutes are not placed on the spreadsheet since a stand-in can literally be anybody, even players from other teams. They do not have to necessarily be bound to your team to be a stand-in/sub. [B][U]What if I don't have a team? [/U][/B] Look for an incomplete team and hopefully they put you in. [B][U] I want to play a match. What do I do?[/U][/B] The easiest way is to ask another team's leader. You can ask to play a ranked match or an unranked match. Unranked matches are not recorded and teams are allowed to use any game settings such as All Pick or Single Draft. Ranked matches will be recorded and will be Captain's Mode only and only one stand-in is allowed. If you want to play a random team, this is where stating the average timezone is handy. I'll will simply take teams of similar timezone and roll the dice for which one you face. When you have a game set up, announce it in here so other will know and be able to spectate your glory. [B][U]So what are all the rules? [/U][/B] I've already stated some, but I'll recap some of them in a full list. 1) Every team must have 5 members before they can participate in a ranked match. 2) Teams do not have need to be entirely composed of Facepunch members. Everyone but you can be from outside. 3) Ranked matches must be Captain's Mode. No exceptions. 4) Teams can only have two stand-ins in a ranked match. 5) Casters cannot cast a ranked game their team is playing. 6) If your opponent is unable to to participate at a ranked match that has been already organized, they are given a grace period of one week to play the match. Otherwise, it counts as a loss. 7) Small trash talk is fine so long as it's not completely serious. Serious and angry trash talk will lead to your team being penalized. 8) You are allowed to do whatever the hell you want in an unranked match if the other team agrees with it. It's not a very big list... [U][B]What is the format for ranked matches? [/B][/U] A single Captain's Mode match is good enough. Teams are also allowed to play a Best of 3 or 5, in which scoring will be determined slightly differently. An extra 200 points is added to each big play in a Best of 3 and an extra 500 points will be added for a Best of 5. Usually, teams must pick the best servers for both sides, if a good middle ground cannot be found, teams are encouraged to play a Best of 3 or 5 and alternate between servers. [U][B]So where can I get a list of teams? [/B][/U] Just below. [B][U]Can I be a caster?[/U][/B] Sure thing. Casters will be listed in the thread instead of the spreadsheet. Casters are allowed to belong in teams in the League but are not allowed to cast the games for teams they're in unless it's an unranked match. You should also state whether you can livestream or not. [B][U]Can I be something else related?[/U][/B] The only thing I can think of would be another official moderator for the league instead of myself. [U][B]Moderator Duties [/B][/U] Now that there are other moderators, it's important that they know what duties they have: 1) Moderators are above the teams word except for their own teams if they are in one. 2) Moderators must watch ranked games if possible and record it to be added to the spreadsheet. If a match cannot be spectated by any moderators, the replay file must be sent to me or another moderator so that there is no lying or shit-talking if a team decides to lie. Big plays must also be recorded. 3) Moderators must take opinions from other spectators about big plays before teams are awarded points for them. 4) If a team member has problems during the game, a moderator has to evaluate how serious the problem is. They can offer the teams to postpone the game if the problem is serious enough. Please note that a team can only be penalized if they have played their first game already. [B][U]Can I suggest something if I feel something is lacking/bad/wrong? [/U][/B] Go ahead. This isn't a tournament, so rule changes won't be as much foul play. Prizes will differ depending on what I have each month. [B][U]New Showmatches![/U][/B] Every fortnight, I'll set up a show match people can enter for fun. These will generally be either challenging spins on existing game modes or something entirely different. [B][U]Semi Free Scheduled matches![/U][/B] The system I tried to start at the end of last thread, where teams can freely schedule their matches, but must at least play each team at least once per 2 months.
