THE QUEEN IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE QUEEN Being a Princess is not an easy job. Being a Queen is even harder. Especially when you're only fourteen years old, and the reason you've inherited the throne is that your royal mother has just met an untimely end. Now power is up for grabs. You may be the official heir, but much of the country's nobility would love to steal the throne for themselves. Aggressive neighbors will take advantage of any weakness to enlarge their borders at your expense. And that's not even mentioning the magical dangers which are lying in wait... Can you survive long enough to reach your coronation?
Long Live the Queen is a Life Simulator and Visual Novel in which you try not to die horribly even though everyone wants your gigantic anime head on a spike. The majority of gameplay involves you directing Elodie's education. Able to study two subjects a week, you have to make sure you aren't killed or deposed before reaching your 15th birthday. Elodie's mood is determined by a number of sliders (Afraid vs. Angry, Cheerful vs. Depressed, Willful vs. Yielding and Pressured vs. Lonely), with different moods influencing how quickly or slowly she learns new skills. Try not to mess up (you will) or do anything dumb (you will) and you might live to see your coronation assuming someone doesn't steal your throne off you first. That last picture looks like the start to a bad Japanese porno.
That last picture looks like the start to a bad Japanese porno.
I managed to get through the entire game without ever actually running into a monster so I'm a little curious as to what spawns them. I've been killed by chocolate a lot though

I went through the entire game for the first time without dying once and seem to have gotten a "good" ending. Is it worth it to go through again?
So is this game a throwback to the original princess maker games? How exciting are the events and min/maxing?
So is this game a throwback to the original princess maker games? As far as I can tell what determines whether or not you survive is WHAT you min/max and when. Certain skills (like economics) are better to focus on early on, while others become more useful later in the game. Royal Demeanour and the Courtly Manners tree of Conversation are pretty crucial for the entire game so it pays to max them as soon as you can.
I got myself in a nasty corner where I can't marry, or fight with my army or fight with magic in one on one combat. All three choices end me up dead, time to restart :v:
