Age of Time http://www.ageoftime.com/ Age of time is a currently development-inactive action-MORPG game made on the Torque engine by the creator of Blockland. It sports several interesting systems, which range from selling things in the shop in the main town (“Port Town”) to crafting to crimes to simple fiber-farming. By the way, you’re a woman. You can only be a woman. Why should I play this piece of shit? It’s fun. Player-controlled economy means you can sell your panties on the market for $666 and see if you’re famous enough to get someone to buy it. Start up a fiber-farm in the Distant Forest and see how much fiber you can rake in. Be a criminal, terrorize newbies, hide-out in the secluded Beach House, and see how much demerits you can get before you’re caught. Travel the world and craft trying to get all of the elusive and rare dyes in the game. There are a lot of things you can do. And now, for some guides on all of the various systems. Selling/Buying Most organized deals are done in the shop (coincidentally marked by a giant sign saying “SHOP”) located right next to the docks where you start. Enter and you’ll see several rows of shelves made for you to sell and buy things. Some of them will already have things being sold by players. If you want to sell, press E while looking at an empty space and you can probably figure out the rest. If you want to buy, press E while looking at an item you want to buy. This is one of the most important features of the game. Crimes & Police When you commit a crime, you get demerits. Demerits are bad. The more you have, the more wanted you are, and the more time your character will spend in jail if you’re captured, or if you’re paying a fine to remove your demerits then the more you have to pay. The upside of being a criminal is that you can freely do whatever the fuck you want and you only worry about being arrested. To become a police officer, go to the jail in Port Town (marked with a giant sign saying “POLICE”) and talk to the marshal. The requirements are that you must have the hook and you must have played for at least 2 hours total. By doing this, you get a police baton which you can use to stun wanted criminals, and then pick them up by facing them and pressing E and carrying them to the box thing next to the marshal’s office. Another thing you get a police law guide which has an in-depth description of all the crimes. You can also find a citizen’s law guide here which is a less in-depth guide that does not have any requirements. If you’re too lazy to become a police officer, here’s all the crimes straight from the police law guide. Throwing knife theft (5d, 500d max) – Picking up a knife that has been thrown by another person. Public nudity (60d first offense, 90d repeat offense, 1000d max) – Removing of the clothes outside of a private bedroom. Cursing (10d, 200d max) – Using these words in global chat: shit, fuck, nigger, asshole, cunt Spamming (20d, 200d max) – Saying the same thing more than once in a row within 2 seconds in global chat. All caps (20d, 200d max) – Talking in all capital letters in global chat. False arrest (15d) – Clubbing someone with your police baton who does not have more than 60 demerits. Police brutality (30d) – Clubbing someone REALLY HARD with your police baton who does not have more than 60 demerits. Corruption (90d) – Being arrested as a police officer. Murder (140d) – Killing an innocent person who has been stunned by a police baton. Horse theft (80d) – Driving a horse that does not belong to you. Community horses are simply labeled “Horse”. Aiding escape (60d) – Non-police carrying a stunned criminal (Must be stunned in the act). Spells Press V to open up the action menu, and then press S to open up the spellbook. Ball - Shoots a small blue damaging ball that uses up a small bit of mana. Burn - Shoots a jet of fire that slowly drains your mana. Fireball - Shoots a fireball that uses a lump sum of your mana. Light - Creates a ball of light that floats around and greatly illuminates dark places. Cloak - Makes you invisible for a lot of mana. Crafting Another thing you’ll notice in your inventory is that you have the option to combine things. This is done pretty self-explanatory, but if you want a description then here you go. Click on something, press combine, click on something else, and press combine items. Combining dyes is pretty much the most common (maybe the only thing?) used for this. Basically, all dyes have an RGB value. For example, bright green dye is 000 (red) 255 (green) 000 (blue). Magenta is 255 000 255. Combining these two would cut both values in half (bright green would now be 000 128 000, magenta would now be 128 000 128) and combine them, making a medium gray with an RGB value of 128 128 128. This can be done in various ways to make dozens of colors. The blacksmith shop (behind the normal shop) can also be considered crafting. It takes raw materials like your bars, wood planks, fiber or dyes and makes them into weapons, clothes, and stuff like that for a certain fee. Different materials do different things for weapons Fiber Fiber is one of the most common items in the game. It is used to make cloth, which is then in turn used to make clothing, which also makes it one of the most important items in the game. To gain fiber, you’ll want to start a fiber farm by either finding a wild fiber (they look like giant broccoli) and getting fibers from it (the white spiky things) by destroying it or buying some at the shop if it has any. Each fully grown fiber (you can tell this because the stem will be a brown color) will give 2-3 fibers, which helps in expanding your fiber farms. Good fiber farms are planted in a very secluded place where nobody would go or look except for you. This is important, because everybody will steal your fibers. Everybody. Wood Wood planks are obtained by destroying a tree with dynamite. They are used to make carbon, the grip of a sword, and the base of a crossbow. So far, the only thing I know about different wood types is that the best is teak. Feel free to tell me more if you can find out. Metal Almost all ores are found in giant rocks which are a good amount less common than trees which make them a pain in the ass to find. You’ll know what a rock is because it’ll have a health bar and it’ll be jutting out of the ground. I’ve found rocks to more commonly grow just northeast of the swamp in the small valley there. You can find out what ore makes what metal by talking to the blacksmith, where you can also forge the ore into the metal it makes for a small fee (sometimes). Autunite is a different case. It makes plutonium, the best metal in the game. Occasionally (maybe once every couple days, sometimes once a day), a meteor shower will come over Port Town and rain fireballs down. Sometimes, upon hitting the ground, these fireballs will spawn a piece of bright green Autunite. You’ll immediately want to grab this because it’s a very valuable thing. Here is the general quality of the metals, in order from least to greatest: Carbon (if you use this you’re stupid) Rust Brass Zinc Lead Gold Iron Steel Plutonium Item Materials Shields and crossbows function differently when made with different materials. While swords can be made with various different metals, they all do the same damage and only serve for looks. Shield base (the part with ten of the same metal): Rust: Nothing Lead: Repels close combat monsters and players Iron: Makes damaging sparks when hit Steel: Makes more damaging sparks than iron Brass: Nothing Zinc: Confuses monsters and makes them forget about you Copper: Freezes monsters and makes them forget about you Plutonium: Nothing Gold: Causes players to drop gold and monsters to spawn gold The quality of the metal used to make the emblem (the part with two of the same metal) determines how strong the effect is. The trimming is just for looks. The quality of the metal used to make the crossbow metal base (the part with two of the same metal) determines the velocity and distance that the bolts fly. The trimming is just for looks, and the quality of the wood used to make the wooden base, as far as I know, does not affect the crossbow’s quality, however I may be wrong. Mobs Orc – Generic brain-dead bad guy who chases you around. Can easily be dispatch with the ball spell. Dynamite Orc – A red version of the Orc which throws dynamite at you and drops un-lit dynamite upon death. Can be dispatched at long-range with the ball spell. Knight – A rogue knight sent from Fort Bad. Uses a crossbow (for some reason only while you are a short distance away). Can easily be dispatched with a fully charged sword attack or the ball spell. Small Meat-Cube – A tiny cube of meat. Alone it can be dispatched with a sword or the ball spell, but while they are in a group the burn spell should be used. Medium Meat-Cube – A large cube of meat. Be careful, because you can easily get stuck inside of it and killed. Can be dispatched easily with the ball spell, but it will break away into several Small Meat-Cubes. Bunny – A very small and brown version of the Orc. Don’t underestimate these guys. You think you are safe and go AFK, but wham-o, a bunny hops over and starts slowing killing you. Especially dangerous at low health. The ball spell proves to be inaccurate for such a small target, so a sword should be used. Sea Monster – An almost pitch-black version of the Orc that will spawn in deep water where your feet do not touch the ground. It can kill you in one hit if you do not have a shield. To kill it while you are on the surface of the water, use the ball spell to push it away and go underwater or go on land. If you really need it dead while you are underwater, go straight under it and cast the ball spell directly upwards. Fire Orc – Another red version of the Orc found in the volcano. While avoiding the fire it shoots at you, cast the ball spell at it. Rocket Orc – This is a tough guy found in Fort Bad. Small and red and fast. To kill it, acquire a copper shield, let it run into it, and while it is frozen attack it with a sword. Imp – Short and green version of the Orc found in the woods. Attack it with the fireball spell while standing on a tall obstacle or while hanging from the ceiling on a hook, or use a sword and shield. Server – Spam fibers everywhere. Map This is a full AoT map with markers of every location on it. http://www.filesmelt.com/dl/AoT_Map.png/ Port Town - The main town where you spawn when you make your account. PT includes a bank/post office (first building you see from The Wilderness), shop (right next to the docks), blacksmith’s shop (behind the normal shop), Driftwood Inn (kind of near the bank, partially obscured by a large building), and a couple miscellaneous houses. Jail (unnamed location, unless you’re in a cell) - This is where you can become a police officer and pay fines. Police officers can check up on criminals or put them in jail all in this one spot. Arena - A place to fight other players without having to lose money. The Wilderness – Everywhere that is not marked. Players can kill you here and mobs spawn here. Be careful, however, because mobs can chase you into safe places and attack you even there. || Mobs: Orc, Bunny, Dynamite Orc, Small Meat-Cube, Medium Meat-Cube, Knight, Sea Monster (only in bodies of water where your feet do not touch the ground) The Woods - Inside The Woods is Level 1 (Level 1 is where you can get the hook). Has green crates which drop money and dye. || Dye: Bright green, green || Mobs: Imp Level 1 - Hidden in The Woods. It is where you can get the hook. This is not marked on the map due to fact that the entrance is placed in different areas when the server restarts. D1 changes on restarts too, so there is no clear way to map it out. || Dye: Brown, orange || Mobs: Orc Level 2 (marked as D2 on the map) - Like Level 1 only no special item. || Mobs: Orc Starboard Town - Like Port Town only less items to buy at the shop and no post office/bank. Distant Forest – A large, lush forest, nothing more. Tree House - A tree with a house in it. Has nothing inside, but has its own challenge which you can set a time record on. Cave (unnamed location) - Inside is a monster pit, which is just a useless deathtrap. Beach House (unnamed location) - A small, cozy house on the beach. Tavern - A perfect place to rest on your journeys and buy some health potions. Fort Bad - A very small castle. The only place to find Rocket Orcs. || Mobs: Rocket Orc Log Challenge - At the top is the great golden hook. Has its own challenge that you can set a time record on. Swamp - Huge, very weedy terrain with a shallow water bed (careful, Sea Monsters can spawn in the deep areas). You can find Zombies here. || Dye: Bright cyan, cyan || Mobs: Zombie, Sea Monster Volcano – Small, dark, and smoky inside. Fire Orcs can be found here. || Dye: Black, pitch black, magenta || Mobs: Fire Orc Auric Fields (unnamed location) – A valley with many yellow weeds with crates. || Dye: Bright yellow, yellow || Mobs: Same as The Wilderness Red Crater (unnamed location) – A crater with many red weeds with crates. || Dye: Bright red, red || Mobs: Same as The Wilderness Blue Hill (unnamed location) - An underwater hill, ascending from the deepest spot of the Port Town Lake. One of the sides is filled with crates. || Dye: Bright blue, blue || Mobs: Same as The Wilderness Hooks There are two hooks, the normal Hook, and the Golden Hook. The normal Hook is acquirable at the end of Level 1, which is randomized every time the game restarts so a map cannot be made of it. I recommend you go alone when doing Level 1, since that way only one Orc spawns in each room and it is overall easier to dispatch them and get to the end. The Golden Hook as you may guess is not found at Level 2 but at the very top of the Log Challenge, which is a massive and extremely tall pile of logs you must use the Hook to get up. I might post a guide for the Log Challenge later. The Hook: - Silver - Stays hooked for 15 seconds - Can be shot a nice length away The Golden Hook: - Golden - Stays hooked for 65 seconds - Can be shot over two times as far away as the normal Hook - Emits a small golden light Other Main website: http://www.ageoftime.com/ Media: http://www.ageoftime.com/media.html Main forum: http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?board=13.0 Clan discussion forum: http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?board=16.0
Hah I used to play this all the time when I used to play blockland. It was a shitty, unfinished game, but I loved it for some reason. This isn't an mmo, there is only 1 server that can only hold around 32 people.
Just logged onto this, name is Rurik.
Bumping this shit 'cause we need some players. Game is fucking hilarious when you get a load of people online.
Think I'm coming on at the wrong times, so I never meet anyone from here except for about 1 person.
Oh god, I remember when this was posted before and a load of FPers were on it. Log Challenge pissed me off so much
Is there anyway to host your own server?
Well I'm signing up. Name-Ezio
-snip, firefox was causing it-
Usernames? I'm "It's Me Again".
I'll download it and give it a try.
I used to play this a ton. Fun little game, great to grief in. My only real advice is to bank your money as often as possible. Getting the hook as soon as possible makes the game incredibly easy, and having a hook is generally the distinction between a new player and a good one. Furthermore, the OP didn't say this, but the ball spell bounces. When facing orcs, fire a ball directly at them. It'll damage them, bounce off of you, hit them again, and do this several times. Saves mana and is pretty cool too.
I'll download this. I will break lots of laws. I will run from the law. When I am caught, I will quit, uninstall and report back to y'all. Actually nevermind. Couldn't take it.
I can be arrested for swearing? That's bullshit fuck that.
Time to public nudity all day everyday
