This is about how i was thinking about some modern stuff into minecraft. Electricity. Now in minecraft we use torches to light up caves, houses, towers, and so on. I was thinking about some more modern stuff in MC. Like cables, lightbulbs, generators. Let me tell what you think about this. Generator: These things will be made out of iron and redstones. it will look just like the furnace in minecraft but then yellow/silver (like iron) with a vent on it. The generator will be the power source for electricity for most of the stuff for in your house/buildings. You will need it if you want to power up lightbulbs, or anything like that. Cable: This is just like redstone only it's a black cable and you can put them on the walls or ceilings. This cable wire carrys a charge of infinite.
Redstone wire will carry a charge 15 blocks, the darkness of the wire will change the longer it is.
So you can make your cable endless because it is far more better then the normal redstone wire. It will be easier to construct things with it then the normal redstone. What if you want a long small tower that is 2x2 big and has redstone torches on top of the tower? How will you able to make them blink? That's the reason why the cable is for. because those normal redstones can't climb up on the wall. With this cable you can connect lightbulbs and switches or maybe even torches. Lightbulb: A lightbulb to put it on the ceiling and it is a little bit brighter then the normal light torch. You can also put it on the walls and on the floor. The thing about the lightbulb is that you can put it on the ceiling and a light torch can't do this. I know these will not come in minecraft. And i will not expect it. These were just simple ideas that i had in my head. Thanks.
This could be useful

redstone should never be able to go an infinite distance on a form of wires.
It's called redstone.

Next time ill post it there! I didn't looked around sorry.
redstone should never be able to go an infinite distance on a form of wires.
That is true. 2 redstones is to easy to craft, because everyone would choose the cable then the normal redstone.
Industrialcraft.
Notch said Minecraft is supposed to be in medieval times and he won't add electricity([sp]Yes, I'm late.[/sp]), so the closest you would get to electricity would be magical Red Stone, but I think theres mods that does stuff like this. Not sure what so ever, but to be honest I'm fine with Red Stone and making lights with glowstone and pistons and it's more rewarding that just crafting lights in my opinion.
2 redstone to create wiring genius idea, use 2 of something to make the same fucking thing.
Disagrees for this not being a bad idea.
Or disagrees because people don't like it?
Redstone is all we need. But we need to be able to put it on walls.
Redstone is all we need. But we need to be able to put it on walls.
pour dust on wall Y U NO WORK
What's wrong with redstone? It's pseudo electricity after all, and suddenly having lot's of cables and whatnot would be totally out of place in blocky world of minecraft.
pour dust on wall Y U NO WORK
put block on halfblock Y U HOVER Hey, it's minecraft.
why can't we just have redstone lightbulbs?
glowstone(dust) + glass + redstone = lamp?
why can't we just have redstone lightbulbs?
last I checked they didn't have lightbulbs in the medieval world.
last I checked they didn't have lightbulbs in the medieval world.
they didn't have engines either or weapons made of diamond or exploding creatures or walking dead or giant spiders or living balls of slime
they didn't have engines either
They did.
they didn't have engines either or weapons made of diamond or exploding creatures or walking dead or giant spiders or living balls of slime
there's a huge difference between fantasy elements and late 1800's-present era electricity plus really? we've had engines for a long, long time. [editline]29th August 2011[/editline]
no he didnt you schmuck he never specified a time period
yeah he did, around the time he added redstone
no he didnt you schmuck he never specified a time period
Pretty sure he did, but if I'm incorrect I'm sorry for... well, being incorrect.
last I checked they didn't have lightbulbs in the medieval world.
Dynamite and TNT weren't invented until the 1860s
Dynamite and TNT weren't invented until the 1860s
what is minecraft tnt made of oh yeah gunpowder which has been around for much longer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_gunpowder [editline]29th August 2011[/editline] ~owned~
what is minecraft tnt made of oh yeah gunpowder which has been around for much longer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_gunpowder [editline]29th August 2011[/editline] ~owned~
Just because the material to make something has been around forever doesn't mean people knew how to use it.
In technicality this would be better off if it was some form of redstone and lightstone powered by lightning. Otherwise its... Not good to me.
Just because the material to make something has been around forever doesn't mean people knew how to use it.
you obviously don't know any weapons history because with my sadly limited knowledge I understand that explosives have been around a long, long time. You know how long ago fireworks were invented? Fireworks use explosives and that wasn't even the first use.
The only rational implementation of something like this that I can support would be a lamp block which emits light when powered, in the same manner as a door being forced open or a note block being played. An example crafting recipe would be 8 glass blocks with a torch in the center. Although glowstone + pistons can sort of accomplish this, those setups don't tend to be very efficient or simple.
Hey guys, let's argue about some more bullshit.
