We talked to MaxisStone (and everyone got a free signed copy of Darkspore Limited Edition) and upon asking if he had more plans with Core Spore, he gave an unexpected answer. He told me his next big project would be announced in January. Now, it wasn't completely specified if this actually had to do with CORE spore, as he was fairly secretive in that aspect. But at least we can be fairly certain it has something to do with Spore. So maybe they have finally decided to add another expansion, or maybe just a spinoff. In any case, we have something to discuss for the next 7 months. So put your speculations here!
Here's the source: http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/72605.page
Platform: PC Description: Allows you to interact with your creature, much like the Sims. the original spore was meh and darkspore just threw character creation out the window and recolored stuff from the old game
By the time I had reinstalled the game enough times to try out Space Stage without a computer crash the appeal was just lost to me.
nobody plays it any more. right?
I'm really disappointed that there has only been one expansion in three years. Are the Wii/DS spin-offs any good?
I'm really disappointed that there has only been one expansion in three years. Are the Wii/DS spin-offs any good?
I don't know, haven't played them, I recommend finding a review.
Does spore really need a megathread? I'm not sure alot of people play this.
Does spore really need a megathread? I'm not sure alot of people play this.
It doesn't
Wasted $50 on the Galactic Edition. Christ, best god game around? Fuck no. Black & White would like to have a word with you.
This game was such a letdown.
Come on guys. Even if it wasnt so hyped it would be considered good. You can't exactly call Spore a bad game, it was really original when you think about it.
This game was such a letdown.
Yeah, my friend told me about this game when he saw the Will Wright developer videos and it was beautiful. It was gonna be THE god game. :(
Come on guys. Even if it wasnt so hyped it would be considered good. You can't exactly call Spore a bad game, it was really original when you think about it.
Uhhhh not really. It's basically 4 minigames thrown together to call it a full game. Character creating is gimmicky at best, rts era was bullshit excuse for a proper rts, and space is a lackluster substitute for real depth.
The fact is that they simplified the absolute fuck out of it to cater to the casual crowd. If you watched the original GDC videos then you'd probably understand why nearly everyone thinks it's terrible.
Turning it from a detailed and complex evolution game of the decade into an oversimplified piece of shit filled with googly eyed cutesy stuff is what makes it suck.
Poor OP, what were you thinking when you made this thread?
Turning it from a detailed and complex evolution game of the decade into an oversimplified piece of shit filled with googly eyed cutesy stuff is what makes it suck.
This. I was really disappointed when I bought it.
I lost the CD to the Galactic Adventures. Time to pirate? (User was banned for this post ("Warez" - Gurant))
Poor OP, what were you thinking when you made this thread?
I'm a hardcore Spore fan, That's why.
Before it came out I was so excited about getting this game. I spent every waking moment for several months reading about the features, watching gameplay footage and interviews, and looking at screenshots. When I finally got it for My birthday, I was so happy. A week later, I got really bored of the extreme repetition. Fuck you, Spore. Fuck you.
I'm a hardcore Spore fan, That's why.
How can that even be possible? There's literally nothing to do in the space stage. Unless babysitting the entire galaxy and having no time to do what you want is your idea of fun. A shame that the modding scene for the game died so quickly.
You guys were talking about this: Right?
Don't forget the constant pirates attacking your planets and there's no way to defend them except to go there yourself from god knows where and play yet another shitty repetitive minigame where you shoot down an always identical fleet of ships.
It's fun with LOOOONG pauses in between your plays.
You guys were talking about this: Right?
Yeah. Fuck, now I have to rewatch it and crawl back inside myself.
If by best god game you mean worst then yes, you're right.
Uhhhh not really. It's basically 4 minigames thrown together to call it a full game.
The fact is that they simplified the absolute fuck out of it to cater to the casual crowd. If you watched the original GDC videos then you'd probably understand why nearly everyone thinks it's terrible.
People always say this but i'm not convinced. Those first videos aren't actually that different from the final thing. All the stages were there, it basically functioned in exactly the same way. You could argue that the underwater stage got cut, but in reality it would have changed nothing, just adding another boring dissapointing stage to all the rest. Dragging dead creatures around would also have been utterly meaningless to the game as it was and is. The whole structure of the game was completely wrong, it seemed to think that giving you artificial progression and success in mini games was more rewarding than what you would get naturally out of seeing your species evolve and use the universe.
I spent $100 on this. Fuck.
I think the hype for this game was worth the $50, but the game... not so much.
