Found this interesting little gem: Essentially it's a program that tracks where you lean your head to allow you to look around corners etc. in a shakeycam 'realistic' manner. Seems kinda cool. Download: http://torbensko.com/faceoff
I actually see how this could be useful!
Holy shit, I've wanted to be able to do this forever. I always do this in games reflexively. [editline]20th June 2011[/editline] I just realized: This combined with the pistol grip Novint Falcon would be amazing.
Wasn't there something exactly like this long ago, only it didn't work with windows vista or above or something? And didn't the same guy who make that also work on some sort of real time lip sync on the source engine? Anyway cool that I can finally try it out.
Oh wow, This is going to be fun
Its kinda like SharpEye
Finally, none of that Kinect bullshit and something using a camera which isnt brand-specific.
This is pretty fun, although the Paintball game included is pretty dumb and Half-Life 2 doesn't have many sequences that are very action oriented or is broken.
Does this thing work on laptop's webcam?
For whatever reason I don't know how to get my webcam to work with it. Any specific details on how to set up your webcam with it? Or is it automatic?
I doubt it will be in hl3 because it doesnt really fit the gameplay. Really cool still!
Fantastic. Now, all we need are fixed viewmodels.
I saw this earlier to day, I was going to post it in The Ivan's Secrets Thread, see what they think about it. This could also be useful in Smod Tactical.
Fantastic. Now, all we need are fixed viewmodels.
For most of the models, it would just require copying half of the model and flipping it. I'm sure one of Facepunch's talented modelers would be happy to do that simple task.
Plugging in my Novint Falcon and the pistol grip. Downloading this. Let's see how this works. [editline]20th June 2011[/editline] The only thing missing is letting us talk in Gordon's place.
Does anyone have the download link, I'm not getting the email.
Okay, it doesn't work that way. No falcon for us :saddowns:
I just realized: This combined with the pistol grip Novint Falcon would be amazing.
The novint falcon + moving around? Not a good idea, your wrist will be hurting in no time.
Head tracking works outside of this mod, but not in the mod. [editline]20th June 2011[/editline] :frown:
Take note game developers cause this looks cool. Now kinect has a purpose.
Does anyone have the download link, I'm not getting the email.
The link included in the email only lasts 24 hours.
http://torbensko.com/faceoff/fo_files/8e90499e83/faceoff_setup_v2.zip hurry up boys get it while its hot [editline]20th June 2011[/editline] Shit this is badass, my neck hurts though. Don't even try the paintball, but Hl2 canal is pretty great.
Will this work with Portal 2?
Wiimote headtracking is so much more useful than this. You get accurate FoV changes and it basically turns your monitor into a window into the game world.

I wish they would just support Track IR.
This is really impressive, but outside of the initial cool factor it doesn't seem like it would that fun to play through the entirety of HL2 with this.

Didn't want to work for me. :saddowns:
Now if only I had a fucking webcam. :rage:
