I just recovered my old gamertag because I had the urge to play Doom (1) on my Xbox 360. The game isn't available anymore via download on XBLA due to some problems with the publisher. And so I thought Doom would still be on my recovered account since I bought it back it 2006. Unfortunately this is not the case. Can someone help on how to recover the game, if that is even possible. If not, I have to contact Microsoft.

If it's not on XBLA anymore, I'm pretty sure you're not going to be able to play it on your 360. If you want a refund, microsoft may be able to help with that.
It should be in your download history somewhere
