This game used to be raving back in 2004-2006, What happened to it? It's became a ghost town now.
CyberTown (CT) (formerly ColonyCity) is a subscription based, family friendly, online community that has declined to a virtual ghost town over the last few years. There are places (chat rooms) available either through a 2D or 3D chat environment. Users are able to have jobs within the community, thus gain virtual money called CC's (CityCash) that can be used to buy 3D homes and items. Each user is allowed a free 2D home and can locate it within any of a number of colonies subdivided into neighborhoods and blocks. The cost is $5.00 per month or $49.99 a year. While still cheaper than the popular Second Life it cannot compare or compete with it nor any subscription based virtual experience.
The history of this site has been discussed in detail by Nadeshda Kaneva as an illustration of the social dynamics that emerge in online communities, As of 2010, due in part to the membership fee, CyberTown just could not keep the membership it once had before its sale in 2002, the average number of users online hovers around 5 when numbers over 500 online at any given time were not uncommon.
My mother introduced me to this site, because I was looking for a Sc-fi game. I was only 6-8 when I played it..
The website could sure use an update

It was made in 1999-2002, what do you expect?
I think it was a joke.

Oh.
I think without an update and the subscription fee, it's pretty amazing it still has players

If it was free I'd suggest getting members of Facepunch to sign up and set up camp there, but I can't imagine anybody wanting to pay for it.
Your mother pointed you in the direction of a online chat room at the age of 6?

Actually, it is free, you just pay to get a house and all that shit.
But you can talk and all that for free, theres alot of nostalgia from the 1990s and 2000 era in there.
