It is a screenshot with the logo pasted onto it.
It is a screenshot with the logo pasted onto it.
No, it's not.
yes it is yes it is
No, it's not.
Are you sure?
yes it is yes it is
There's 4 screenshots, each with a vignette filter on them, after I messed around with the brightness and contrast, they're all under a custom template, I downloaded the font used on the back, give it a drop shadow, and cut the logo out myself. Then I created the presentation from scratch. Including the time I took in Minecraft creating the lake of lava, burning down the village, and taking the screenshots, it's taken about 5 hours total.

Oh man, I feel bad for you.

Congrats you added a vignette, but it's still just screenshots with the logo pasted over it. And if that took you 5 hours you're doing something wrong.
5 hours my ass, I could do the exact same thing in 5 minutes.

I too have spent too long on things that should have been finished in less than an hour. Rather than just poking fun at you i would like to give you some advice. Very rarely will you get box art which is taken straight from the game. It is normally an image that represents the game but doesn't actually show it. Also the back of the box would usually have information on it, not just another picture. This is where you would normally find actual screenshots from the game.

I thought this worked perfectly for Minecraft, which was why I came up with the screenshot idea. About not having legal info or screenshots on the back, most of my boxes don't have that kind of stuff. I like to think of it as something that wouldn't be in a retail store, but more likely to be in someone's personal collection. Some of my favorite boxes on the site are the same way, such as: http://vgboxart.com/view/43016/bushido.blade/?replies=20 http://vgboxart.com/view/41761/fallout.new.vegas/?replies=78

If that's how you boxart makers do shit then there isn't much i can do about that. My point still stands about the cover just being a screenshot though. Even if the competition is based around the world of the game, you should have represented that with something other than a screenshot of an npc village. Maybe a drawing of a minecraft-esque landscape would have been more appropriate.
I'd imagine Minecraft would be better suited to boxart if it was ultra-minimalistic. Think Oblivion: Title, logo (or something else indicative), nothing else. That's what does the talking.
The front is just the Portal 2 logo.
hell i like it.

Maybe just some grass, dirt and stone.
Minecraft needs a limited box edition, with the box art being entirely the rock texture with only minecraft written on top, and when you open the box you have the cd, and behind the cd there's a creeper.
What about mine?
I really don't like your covers. Any of them.
OP, that box art looks like dick [editline]23rd September 2011[/editline] Hell, all of the ones on your profile there look like dick
Yeah, I always pictured the Minecraft box art to be very simple:
Yeah, I always pictured the Minecraft box art to be very simple:
Thats the thing, most people are tying to hard and put to many shit on it. This simple cover draws more attention imo
Sorry OP, but your work is really shit.
Yeah, I always pictured the Minecraft box art to be very simple:
I made a mockup of how I'd like a Minecraft cover to be like or similiar to: [editline]24th September 2011[/editline] Excuse the PS3 exclusive thing :v:
Can I do the back side art of that?
Sure, I'm not going to. [editline]24th September 2011[/editline] Make it kinda fit the theme though
