Searched for a post like this for quite a while when I realized that even if/when I found it, chances are it wouldn't be up to date and/or with broken links and stuff. The idea is to make a badass list with emulators from Atari to Zemmix going over from cartridges to cds and dvds. No roms, no isos, just emulators. First runners up? . people are free to contribute, y'know.
Contribution: Chankast is kind of shit. I recommend nullDC though.
Project64 has kind of turned to shit at around 1.7 or 2.x.
FCEUX - NES http://www.fceux.com/web/home.html KEGA Fusion - Genesis http://www.eidolons-inn.net/tiki-index.php?page=Kega (Supports many Sega systems except Saturn and Dreamcast) Visual Boy Advance M - GBC/GBA http://vba-m.com/
I love VrituaNES. Also Mini vMac if that's an Emulator.
PPPPPPPPSSSSSSSSPPPPPPPP - PPPPSSSSPPPP http://www.ppsspp.org/ This one has a chance of being better than the stutter-mess called JPCSP because it's not in Java.
I hear the Playstation 2 has an amazing Playstation 2 emulator.
I wish there was an original xbox emulator that worked (and a site that had original xbox games to download (legally).)
Its compatibility isn't as good though, especially in hard to emulate games like Jeanne d'Arc I would kill many things to be able to play that game upscaled
Yeah, it's pretty new in comparison so that's to be expected. It's come a long way though in the time it's had, but it's hard to gauge if it's because development of JPCSP reverse engineered a lot of what was required. There's a thread on the PPSSPP forums with per-game hacks that enable 60 FPS, which is pretty neat. Maybe they can integrate that as an option at some point.
Xebra is pretty much the best PS1 emulator that I've found. It doesn't have as many customization options as epsxe, but it's really simple to get working if all you want is a stock ps1 experience with nothing fancy. http://www.zophar.net/psx/xebra.html
No Cash GBA http://www.nogba.com/ GBA/NDS emulator, best DS emulator I've found Though with a completely straight face, they would like you to pay some cash for the latest version of their no cash emulator
I'd really like a 3DO emulator, but I've never been able to get one working and there's 3 different ones which I've heard have varying levels of quality. Has anybody played around with 3DO? [editline]6th December 2013[/editline] I also backed this up because I remember netplay for SNES being a bit tricky to get working and thought I should back up what I had at the time in case of future use. I don't remember what's in it, I think a special version of zSNES? Does work though, played Sunset Riders with a friend over online a long time ago with it. Like local play simulated through the internet.
Project64 I started to play Ocarina of Time for the first time starting yesterday.
No MAME? Also, for things like this, Kaillera is basically mandatory. Lets you play multiplayer online.

Desume is awesome yeah.
pSX is probably one of my favourite PS1 emulators. I'm not sure if it's still being updated, and it's a bitch to find because searching 'PSX emulator' brings up a whole load of other shit, but it will always have a special place in my heart due to its ease of use and being the only emulator I know that plays that orgasmic PS1 startup sound.
