Mortal Kombat is the first title in the series to include 3D graphics with gameplay solely on the 2D plane (2.5D). The developers have also stated that this is the first game in which they are making a conscious effort to create deeper gameplay for more dedicated players of the series and of fighting games in general. Mortal Kombat is great and all but they really need more creative fatalities rather than the same old ones re-used. I'm a pretty sick bastard and they need more creative people like me to think of new ones. The whole uppercut-decapitation thing gets old fast.
I did like the VATS-style Kung Lao hat-slicing fatality though. It'll be good anyways, I'll probably get it.
All I can say is: The Challenge Tower looks fucking awesome.
