• Can't download Arma 2 through steam

I had ArmA 2: Free previously but now thanks to Family Sharing I have access to the full game with glorious hd textures etc. I uninstalled the arma2 free and then started Arma 2 download through steam. It said the download is 8gb and takes 2 hours but the download completed in 2 seconds, and when I pressed play I got lots of errors and the game didn't start. I went to steamapps/common to check what it had downloaded and turns out it only downloaded arma2.exe which is 10mb. No other folders, dlls, textures, assets nothing. What I have tried: -Delete local content through steam and reinstall -restart steam -reboot computer -run steam as administrator -remove every arma related file and folder from whole computer -verifying integrity of game cache (it says its OK, it only checks the one file which is the 10MB exe) -changing steam download server -deleting clientregistry.blob in steam folder -wait for a few days (it still doesn't work) -tried to download at a friend through their internet (different city and ISP) -deleting EVERYTHING in the steam folder except steam.exe -switching to steam beta version -tried depotkeys.vdf fix found in one thread -tried downloading on another computer (seems like this problem is tied to my steam account in particular so no external fixes can help the issue) When I ask my friends to try download it through steam it works fine for them so only I have this issue. I highly doubt its an bug in family sharing since noone else has reported it. I tried to download ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead and it downloaded normally and works just fine.
Your best option is to adress steam support directly.
If you haven't tried deleting everything in the steam folder except steam.exe and the steamapps folder yet, that's a pretty generic fix for random things.

I went to my email to notice its not working anymore. Im locked out of my steam account! yay! and only a handful of people have the same problem with their email so it can take months for microsoft to pay any attention to it. Edit: Microsoft did eventually fix their shit and I got back in my account just to find out that deleting everything in steam folder did not fix the problem.
Still 2 months later I can't download Arma 2. Exact same problem
Got a Arma 3 key from a friend a while ago. Everything was working fine but now everytime i want to play Steam tells me its a russian region only :/ what to do?
Your best option is to adress steam support directly.
I did this, and they only told me to delete everything in the steam folder (except steamapps and steam.exe) and to make sure no firewalls are blocking steam etc. Didn't help at all
Took a video of the problem, its still not fixed. Steam support told me to contact BI studio support and they contacted steam and gave me some instructions that didn't fix it and told me to contact steam support again lol. take a look in this thread: http://steamcommunity.com/app/33910/discussions/0/846943514160491159/ and try to email martino, looks like he helped the guy with the same issue as you.

I also tried all the fixes in that and the other thread which, surprisingly, didn't fix the issue. And I just finished attempting to download the game on another computer and it still only downloaded the 10mb exe so this problem seems to be specifically tied to my steam account and is independent of anything else
