Sorry if this is the wrong area, close the thread if it is. So I derped out for a minute, and accidentally activated a copy of a game by serial key. Is there any way to deactivate it now, by asking Valve or something? Sorry if this a stupid question.
Uhh... Why is that a bad thing? Could you explain that to me?
I'm lost. Why would you want to unactivate a game?
How do you even do that? :v: Were you trying to gift it? and Like Conro101 said, how is that a bad thing?
Uhh... Why is that a bad thing? Could you explain that to me?
Ok. I got a copy of a serial key from a friend, Dirt 3. I've got no space left on my hard drive, so the game would take up most of my space. I didn't really want the game, but since I hadn't activated a game using a serial key, I was checking the code activating part of steam. I entered it in, and hit activate to early. Now I've got a game that I don't have any space for, or want. That's my situation. It's stupid, but that's how it is. In other words, me be idiot.
oh shit I just installed a game I just bought help guys
Then don't install it?
And by friend, you mean russian key site?
No, I mean by friend. And screw it, sorry for wasting your time. If any admin sees this, please close the thread.
Contact Valve Customer Support and tell them Dogchow11 sent you. Just tell them it was activated on your account by accident, and that it was meant to go elsewhere.
short answer: no long answer: nope
Its just that, you know there have been multiple dirt key leaks, and you said you didn't want it, implying you knew it was stolen
It'll just be removed from his account anyway.
I'm sure he enabled one of those Dirt 3 keys by accident. I did the same, so I contacted Steam Support. Some forum sent me there so I also told them.
You received a free game from your friend and you don't want it? What the fuck?!
I've never really heard of anyone ACCIDENTALLY typing the code in and ACCIDENTALLY pressing accept.
It sounds like his friend gave him a leaked DiRT 3 key without him knowing and activated it, then finding out that his friend gave him a leaked key. There have been multiple cases of this.
why cant u just be honest

The only "problem" you would have is have the game in the list.
It's okay, we forgive you
Did you accidentally post this thread too?

Its gonna be removed pretty soon probably.
Nobody's getting banned for DiRT 3. Stop worrying.
Stop making fun of him guys, it was an accident.
