Personally I don't see why so many people dislike Ricochet, while it does have a few flaws.
I wonder what the main reason it's such a disliked game is. In itself it's a neat concept for a game, and the tron-esque theme is awesome if you ask me.
Is it the fact that one falls off the maps a lot, that annoys players? Is it the fact one can't fire at higher or lower ground?
Just curious.
It's not even hated in the slightest, it's just a really unacknowledged game which people aren't aware of. And since it's old, nobody bothers to buy it and try it, and assume it's bad.
Although it seems like a pretty solid game with simple gameplay, it's probably repetitive, but to me it looks highly enjoyable with a few friends, or just random people.
Maybe some gameplay could use tweaking, but I haven't tried it so I can't say, but people don't really hate Ricochet. It's just unknown.
It's the best Valve game to date.
It's quite a shame the Ricochet: Source mod died. And that team didn't release their content so others could finish it.
If I weren't so occupied with Eawan and the Grit project I'd try to tweak the concept of Ricochet, mix it up a bit, and turn that into a Source mod.
I really enjoyed the SourceMod Ricochet Source. It didn't have that many servers up and running, but it at least had decently working bots.
I have played Ricochet once at a friend's house and it is fun.
I owned the game years ago, I never really liked it or understood it. All you do is jump from island thing to island thing and shoot disks.
Nobody hates it, It's just largely unheard of and nobody ever plays it ever.

I've played it with a few friends to a LAN. It gets boring pretty quick, but its fun the first 5-10 minutes.

One of my favorite games by valve.
Everything I read about Richocet these days I swear says it being a mod originally developed by Valve but I swear I have a memory of getting Richochet as part of a mods pack that game with Half Life Platinum Edition and the developer webpage for Ricochet going to some french website.
Boring. No sustaining play.

I love this game :)
No one truly hates it. More than half the people who even say it's name haven't played it. It's the fact that out of all the Valve titles it is clearly the lowest and most unoriginal on the totem pole.
