What ever happened to the escape (es_) varient in counter strike?

Title says it all. What ever happened to it? I played them and they seem pretty fun, but bots have issues with the game type. It was in the beta and I managed to find the 3 maps. I enjoyed them, but I have three questions:
1. Have you ever played this variant?
2. Why was it removed?
3. Any idea where I can find working bots for it?

I found your answer. It was a game mode in the early days of Counter-Strike, but it was removed in beta version 7.0 as they felt it simply couldn't work. The es_ maps are leftovers from the beta days, and they still technically work, but no one really plays them, I think.

There are two es_ maps in Counter-Strike 6.1 beta. If you don't have Half-Life patched to 1.0.1.6 or lower, the mod will not work. I made a server with these two maps in Counter-Strike Condition Zero. The gamemode worked, but I had random crashes all the time.
