VAC doesn't seems to work

Hi guys

I am playing a lot of Chivalry, I got that game since it's release and I just love it. The thing is there are cheaters in that game and they simply use Cheat Engine. Chivalry is VAC protected but it doesn't seems to ban people that use Cheat Engine. I asked on the forums for the developers to do something against it but they usually don't even reply to it.

Then I remembered that a few years ago I bought Killing Floor. I just started the game and first server I wanted to join told me that I needed at least a level 3 character or something like that, so I just started a local game and changed my rank on all classes with Cheat Engine. I am not VAC banned and that was like last year. So yeah, I think that VAC doesn't works the way it should work.

What are your thoughts on this? Do I have to do something special with Cheat Engine to get banned?

iirc it's because cheat engine modifies memory, vac checks files

I don't have a prove right now, but I think that someone said that Cheat Engine is VAC detected and using it is like a free VAC Ban ticket.

I don't think that local KF games have VAC due to it not being connected to the internet.

Also I remember hearing that it was trivially easy to alter your ranks on Killing Floor, so you might just accidentally did a workaround.
