Nothing is a guaranteed hit, every attack and ability is aimed by the player in some way and only a few abilities can be instantly cast, most have a cast time and can be interrupted. Most recent patch notes found at bottom of this post! TL:DR The game is now on steam, you can download the client and launch it through steam, you still need to make an account though. Click the banner at the top, or click account, or click here If you register at that link you start with 5000 bloodcoins. The downside is I am referring you so I get one friend point, if I accumulate a lot of points then I get rewards. For those who are just starting out: Do the "starter quest" and you'll unlock a free bloodline. The starter quest is: 1. Do the tutorial (can be done any time from play -> standard -> tutorials -> gameplay -> basic combat 2. Win an arena match 3. Win a conquest match 4. Win an artifact match 5. Achieve level 5 PLAY THROUGH STEAM! You'll unlock a free weapon (from 4 different choices) and you unlock an xp boost. Starting out: You'll unlock one bloodline through the starter quest and since achievements reward you with bloodcoins you'll be able to afford a second bloodline very quickly. Thus you can happily play without spending money. It will however be a painful grind to unlock subsequent bloodlines. If you're interested please continue reading! Up and coming: The metal warden is a ranged tank bloodline. This is Samus Aran in the bloodline universe. Some awesome shooty bits, morphball (that knocks back enemies), this cat is awesome possum. If you prefer megaman feel free to liken him to her (or her to him as the case may be). Personally I plan to buy this bloodline day 1 because I've got my coins all saved up like a good little boy. Metal warden will be released later in November If the metal warden preview video gets a lot of views everybody will get a FREE bloodcoin boost! (Eight days per 50k views, so SPAM THE LINK!) The Free Issue BLC is F2P. Fun Com are employing the Korean MMO sales model: Free to play, free to enjoy. If you want to drop money you can. Spending money DOES NOT GIVE YOU A POWER ADVANTAGE What the money allows you to do is change how bloodlines look, what bloodlines you can use, what weapons they wield (purely an aesthetic modification), change your in-game avatar, title, etc. All of this may be achieved by using bloodcoins, a free in game currency. Earning bloodcoins is a difficult task however as you can only earn 600 blood coins per day from playing ranked games. On the flip side they give you a lot of bang for your buck as far as real money is concerned. Even without packages, sales, and other events, champions are still only $5 for a permanent unlock. That might seem like much but at least this isn't Riot Games asking $20 for an astronaut teemo skin and $10 a champion (more financial information is in the finance section). Background information What is this? Essentially you compete in PvP battles which can be 1v1 all the way up to 5v5, currently there are only ladder systems for 3v3 solo queues, 2v2 team queues, and 3v3 team queues. All queues are for the arena game mode. Gameplay Controls are simple, each character has two abilities bound to the left and right mouse button. These generally have low cool downs and are your bread and butter abilities. The real work horses. Next each champion has skills bound to Q, E, R, F and spacebar. You use WASD to navigate the arena and your mouse cursor always aims where your champion will use their abilities. Spacebar is usually a skill which you use to cover ground quickly, each champion uses the spacebar differently so learning when to use spacebar is extremely important. Similarly F is your champions ultimate ability which becomes available after you gain enough energy to cast it. Ultimates are very powerful and swing the favor of the battle drastically. BLC was made by: A small new studio made of university graduates, BLC is their first game. BLC is published by: The people who are responsible for the insanely popular Anarchy Online, and also the unforgettable failure that is Age of Conan. Don't let their past failures dissuade you though, BLC targets a new niche and excels brilliantly. Game Modes Yes. Oh god yes. This is the main reason why I love this game and why it warrants a trial. Arena Very simple. This is a team death match. Each round the entire team spawns with only one life (no respawning) and the sole goal to kill every last member of the other team. The host of a custom game will set the number of rounds (usually the first to 3 round wins take the match) to be played. There are 10 arena maps currently. Capture The Artifact So much fun. Each side has an artifact (a glowing sphere) and two pedestals. Put an artifact on each pedestal and a countdown is triggered, when it hits 0 you get a point. Host sets how many points are needed for a win. When a player dies they respawn at a safe location infront of 3 teleporters. To pick up an artifact you stand over it without using an ability for 2 seconds. There are currently 2 CTA maps. Conquest Another fun one, sometimes frustrating. In this game mode there are two zones which you need to capture. When one team controls both zones a countdown begins and the other team is denied respawns. Once the countdown finishes a new round begins. As per usual the host determines how many rounds must be one before the match is over. There are currently 3 conquest maps. Bloodlines These are your champions, these are who you guide through battle, using their unique abilities to crush your foes! Each bloodline can fit into a specific category. Tank Tanks are close-quarters fighters and specialize in defense and peeling--removing pressure from allies by putting equal pressure on enemies. Gluttons used to have a sweet overpowered as fuck madness mechanic, but since then they have to rely on amplify, a bag full of CC, oh yeah and their healing ability was reworked into a melee attack that heals them. Seriously these guys should easily top the scoreboard in the control category. Thorns have sweet debuffs, awesome CC, a sick shield type ability, and awesome damage output. They've been nerf'd since beta but they're still a house. Inhibitors use damage amplification, self healing and ninja magic (they call it wuju whatever that means) to kick ass and take names. They have a sweet shield, decent chase and damage, and are generally considered "strong" bloodlines. Vanguards have more CC than they know what to do with. These guys are huge and they have no problem shoving their shields where they aren't welcome. Guardians have moderate amounts of CC, some decent abilities to close the range between you and them and some strong defensive abilities. Also you get to look awesome while swinging a GIANT FRIGGING AXE around. Ranged Damage Ranged damage have very low health and deal high damage from a safe distance. They generally have many ways to escape melee combat but are taken down quickly if out-maneuvered. Igniters use fire magic to deal sustained damage over time. Engineers have the highest skill cap of the ranged bloodlines. They have to utilize placement, flamethrowers, shrink rays, tractor beams, shotguns and miniguns to prevail. They are strong but they do have a high skill cap. Seekers are pimps of the forest, robin hood has nothing on these guys. They have decent AoE and CC abilities, great kiting abilities, and sweet damage. Gunners have the biggest non ultimate nuke in the game. Landing it makes the player on the other end of the keyboard wince. They have little CC and some kiting ability, but they're almost purely about dealing damage. Nomads are awesome. They have unreal CC (unreally good), great damage output (boomerangs hit twice because they come back!) and they are very adept at kiting other champions around. Melee Damage These bloodlines generally deal the most damage but must be in close range and have slightly higher health than ranged damage bloodlines. They tend to have very limited ways to control fights aside from their high damage output. Ranid Assassins use stealth and poison attacks to quickly bring down lone enemies. Combos make or break this bloodline, if you can pull them off you can win 1v3, if you can't combo you'll probably die quickly. Harbingers employ dark magic to amplify their damage and leech health from their targets. Combos take this from being a solid bloodline and make it quite unfair, learning the combos are pretty simple since harbinger combos any ability and left click to heal himself. Raveners specialize in avoiding damage and punishing enemies who waste their escape opportunities. Also know as death maracas (or doom maracas or maraca [sp]bitch[/sp] profanity!) this melee bloodline has a lot of control and mobility. Stalkers are highly-mobile and use several abilities that greatly amplify their damage against single targets while dishing out a good amount of control. Spear Masters specialize in dismantling ranged bloodlines with very high mobility, damage avoidance, and some downright unfair CC abilities. Reavers are the cloud strifes of the bloodline world can take some time to learn (slow attack speed) but offer some control (drunken haze and parry), with some self healing (consume drunken haze) and chains (think you can escape? Think again! HAHA!). Healer Healers mix defensive control abilities with respectable damage, but have very limited mobility and low health. Astronomers are the bad asses of the healers. These guys pull double duty, they accumulate stacks over time and each melee attack consumes them dealing bonus damage. Coupled with a really strong (and easy to land) CC ability, these guys mean business. That said if you're in a healing war (people are fighting with healer's sitting back healing everything) you're probably going to fall behind in the HPS and lose. So heal some, punch some, win some. Psychopomps are more offensive healers which utilize spiritual energy to disrupt and control the battlefield, removing allies from harm or increasing damage done to opponents. Their ultimate is sort of a gimmick as it basically doubles everything they do for its duration. Which is to say it's a really strong gimmick. Alchemists have some strong CC, the ability to dispel debuffs on allies, an awesome shield, and a decent DoT. Their ultimate is quite iconic as a giant pool of death. Blood Priests lose health when they heal allies, but they can greatly disrupt the enemy team with fear, possession, and blinding insect swarms. Nobody expects BEES! Also BP's boast what most call the "best shield in the game" which lets the BP surround an allied champion (even themselves) in a sphere of blood that reduces damage taken and reflects damage back. Heralds of Insight are interesting. Their heal spell bounces between allied champions (awesome), they have some great CC, decent mobility, an awesome reflective shield bubble and the time warp. Technically it's called time rift but it teleports you back 3 seconds in game time (it's an ex ability and can be quite powerful). Heralds are one of the more difficult healers due to their low damage output. They do have a pretty strong nuke + CC combo, but the cooldown is quite long. Grim and Rog are separate bloodlines that combine as one character, grimrog. Grimrog offers the unique ability to use healing magic offensively by consuming a curse on an enemy. Grimrog is a bundle of decent damage (rog's doing), a healing totem (HoTS AOE that buffs defense of allied champions), a very powerful "spacebar" (it opens two portals, anybody can go in one portal and come out the other), and a sweet silence ability. Grimrog is also quite mobile with a dash ability and the "spacebar" movement ability. Trains, Medallions and Gems oh my! Introduced by stunlock to siphon bloodcoins away from bloodline sales, these add some depth to gameplay while widening the gap between hardcore and casual players. Boo hiss. Traits]/i] These are the bread and butter specialization options, there are 3 specialization tracks and several tiers. Each tier needs to be unlocked but they are very cheap (less than 2k bloodcoins for most, 2nd tier is only 400 coins). You earn one more trait point per level but they aren't available for use until level 5. Medallions and Gems Medallions are largely crap, they offer you some abilities at the cost of energy (aka they use up your ult meter to do something). They do however hold gems. Gems are awesome possums. These offer trait points but cost nothing but gem slots and bloodcoins. Medallions come in four varieties. Crimson, Cobalt, Passive and Troll. Troll medallions are only available for funcom points, have no gem slots, and are therefore useless. They are used to troll other players in game. Crimson and Cobalt are active medallions, they offer an ability at the cost of energy. The most useful crimsons are dirt cheap (because they're bad) and most players op for the speed medallion (consume energy for a temporary speed boost) or the meteor medallion. The most useful cobalt medallion uses energy to teleport you. The passive medallions are by far the best though, they are a persistent passive effect. There are two medallions that stand out as "the best," one reduces the effect of slows and blinds (15% shorter), the other reduces the effects of amplifys, silences, and weakening (15% shorter). The third medallion that gets people wet is the assassin medallion which gives you +7% damage from behind. Gems are what medallions carry, each of the medallions have 4 gem slots. Gems are what define your character. Traits help (since they're free to obtain)but the key word is "help," your gems are what your traits support. Each gem gives a bonus to three attributes, so plan how you'll use your 12 slots carefully. Finances Yes it's free to play, but as far as cash is concerned there are a few options. Option I don't want to pay money This is fine, I'm not the developer, I can't make you support them so I am ok with this. Adding another player to the community is good enough for me. You'll be limited to what you can play though as only 4 bloodlines are f2p at any given time, these rotate randomly so you're at the mercy of the game. At least you'll be good with multiple bloodlines. Grinding to unlock a bloodline will be long and painstaking. Option 1: Buying champions one at a time Either the cheapest or most expensive. Either way it's inefficient. If you've decided you only need to play one bloodline and you use bloodcoins to branch out that's fine, you can do that, go ahead. At least you're playing the game increasing the community by 1. Option 2: Buying the champion pack This lets you use medium and hard bots (good for practicing / learning new champs) and it unlocks 16 bloodlines. All for the low price of $29.99 USD. Additionally you are awarded with 600 Funcom points for your BLC account (the equivalent of $5) and a stack of blood coins to get you started. Option 3: Buying the titan pack This is for those who really love the game. $99.99 and you get a shit ton of stuff. 10% discount on any store purchase for BLC, unlimited access to every bloodline (even future ones). Option 4: Bloodlust Upgrade This complements option 2 you buy it separately. Essentially 4 new bloodlines were released. This bundle includes them, some weapons, all for the low price of $9.99 Other information, the champion and titan pack come with a bit more, if you're interested in them read up about the differences. There's lots of little bonus incentives to entice you. Also you can purchase any bundle (champion, bloodlust) and then upgrade to titan only paying the difference (ie buy champ + bloodlust and titan is $59.99). List o' FP'ers Pm me with the title "Bloodline Champions" to have your name added or removed from the list.
Suppertime NSC rysunles negaren
Useful pages: http://www.blcwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page This is right now the best site to get information for potential theory crafting. There shouldn't be too much though since the lack of shops or items means that each game you'll play the same character with similar strategies. However it does have useful information (all of which can be accessed through the in game menus) pertaining to the abilities of each bloodline. http://www.blgaming.com/bloodline_champions Streams, weekly tournaments, and a looking for group section. This is for the competitive type, or maybe you just want a larger friends list for better games.
The way I understand it, you can only buy champions with real money?
You can buy them with blood coins, which you earn for completing achievements or playing matches, but matches don't give very many blood coins, and each champion costs 17000 blood coins.
I have BLC, but...Well. My PC can't handle it. Once i get a new GPU I'll probably play more.
Seems interesting. The inefficient blood coin gain seems like a turn off though. How many coins do you get for winning a game?
I started playing it,if anyone wants to add me my nickname is: negaren I love the alchemist :3:
Uh, search dude. http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1020610-Bloodline-Champions-smells-like-DotA-tastes-like-Guild-Wars-Out-now!
This thread is cooler [editline]26th February 2011[/editline]
I love the alchemist :3:
Alch is rape-face With my ult I can easily top the scoreboard in damage too
This thread is cooler [editline]26th February 2011[/editline] Alch is rape-face With my ult I can easily top the scoreboard in damage too
How are you guys so good at alch? I'm terrible at it. Tell me your secrets.
I would play this game more, if I didn't get a ping of over 300.
How are you guys so good at alch? I'm terrible at it. Tell me your secrets.
Be a giant pussy and try to avoid getting the attention of the enemy
I played during beta, the game was pretty sweet but I cannot stand the way they decided to make the system work for getting new champs. Either give them all to us or charge us for the full game. I hate it when we are only given access to a few and forced to grind or purchase more.
If you're having ping problems make sure that you're on the right server. The EU and US client are the same and the decision between the two is very easy to mix up.
How are you guys so good at alch? I'm terrible at it. Tell me your secrets.
heal/sleep/heal/poison/heal/barrier/ult erryday [editline]26th February 2011[/editline]
Be a giant pussy and try to avoid getting the attention of the enemy
I actually like to draw theyr attention to me,then I use the knock-back bomb and the sleep vial to cc them while my team rapes :3:
Enjoy having 3 Harbingers on your ass I just pop my barrier, Q, E and run like the wind
Yeah alch is really easy, you just sort of sleep-vial whoever tries to butt fuck you and hope your team isn't stupid enough to interrupt the stun. @Banned? I searched like 4 times. I never saw a mega thread. I saw like 4 news threads about it though... Currently my top 3 bloodlines are Thorn, Glutton and Blood Priest. Yes I am a gigantic faggot. OP champs all day. I <3 winning streaks.
Enjoy having 3 Harbingers on your ass I just pop my barrier, Q, E and run like the wind
yeah but when there's 3 u can just area-sleep or knock-back them all, plus,I'm still low-level,and I can do that a lot outside the ranked matches
oops double
My friend argues that Alchemist is by far the best healer because her sleep vial is so strong. Which is partially true. If your team buggers off and tries to 1v1 each champion the alchemist will stun whoever's bothering her and proceed to win the game. If you FF the shit out of the alchemist only attacking other champions when her barrier is up then it's an easy win assuming your healer is healing correctly. The astronomer is pretty tanky though and his solar reflection is fucking broken if you have half a brain. It's mostly irrelevant though if you let a glutton eat your healer. Although blood priest fucks shit up so hard core. AOE fear (2 seconds what) + blind + possession = fuck shit up all day don't care about anything.
This game needs to get more popular. It's probably the best free game I've ever played.
Sorry about bump, but I dont want to make another thread. Anyone play this again since its on steam now?
Hey, bumping because the past guy bumped it, I updated the first post, I'm in the process of adding the new bloodline infos and I will further compile the player list if you guys pm me. Right now I'm adding blocks of text to update the first post. I've gotten back into this game and I have to say I am so glad I play it! [editline]7th November 2011[/editline] Balance wise, it's in my opinion that this game has some UNREAL balance. This game is tuned so finely you can practically hear it sing.
The downside is I am referring you so I get one friend point, if I accumulate a lot of points then I get rewards.
Why is that a downside.
I don't like the "buying Xpoints does not give you a power advantage!!" Yes it does. More heroes means more power because you get more options. Also "traits and medallions" bullshit completely destroyed some of the things BLC used to stand for. How is it working out nowadays? If it didn't take 100 games to farm one hero, maybe more people would play this. When game was in beta, it had hope. SLS/Funcom destroyed that hope.
Buying shit only speeds things up, thats it. There are other ways to get a bloodline besides farming coins/buying funcom points.
I don't like the "buying Xpoints does not give you a power advantage!!" Yes it does. More heroes means more power because you get more options.
