We all know that Counter-strike GO is just around the corner. And we all know since it's Counter strike many people will buy it. Do you guys and gals think Counter-strike source will be like empty. Cause I just got Counter-strike source and was wondering who will stay with Counter strike source? So post saying you'll keep playing CSS, or not.
(Oh and if this thread is breaking the rules please tell me)
No. CS:S will not be deserted.
was cod4 ever deserted?
was cod4 ever deserted?
It is at times. But most of the time no.
People still play 1.6. People will still play source.
CSS will still be alive and well. CS-Go was catered more towards console gamers as far as I know anyway.
no
People will not desert CS:S for:
1. People still play 1.6, some people prefer older games
2. It has its own simplistic atmosphere that people would prefer then the more realistic cs:go
3. What will make 11 year olds feel good about themselves if there we're no css?
tfc still has people playing, so no.
I disagree all I see are bots and faked filled server slots in TFC.
I don't think so, I still play Cs 1.6 and a bunch of other Goldsrc games.
no, because for every new version of a game franchise there will be people saying the previous version was better
tfc still has people playing, so no.
The only guy I know why plays TFC is an old Fortress Forever dev :v:
Some people won't be able to afford the game, or the hardware required to run it.
Some people will just prefer the game they're used to.
Some people will wait until the game has "matured", bug fixes, mods etc.
CSS will be active for some time yet.
CS:GO is shit so yeah, people will still play CSS

How can you know it's shit when it's barely in beta
I get a much different vibe when I play CS:GO. Different from CSS. Maybe in time, it will adapt and become the next CSS with prettier graphics. It's too hard to tell right now. Judging by the general feeling of the game however, I'd say CSS is perfectly safe.
Was Counter strike 1.6 deserted?
Kinda weird that all other goldsource games are almost empty while cs 1.6 has a crapload of players.
Never found css very fun either. (well except mg that's pretty cool)
I remember up until a year or two ago I could still download any old goldsource mod and there'd be at least a few servers full of people. No one even plays Brainbread anymore now... But lots of people still play Sven Co-op and CS1.6. I'm pretty sure loads of people still play Natural Selection too, but I don't have that installed at the moment. Those games are so good, not even factoring in that they're mods, they're just great games.

exactly
CS1.6 isn't considered as part of the half-life family, it simply became a new standard in videogames back then.
A LARGE majority of counter-strike players have no idea what steam is, who valve is or what engine they play on. It's simply "that game that runs on the platform thing" to them.
No, it won't be deserted, it will be dust2'd.

CS 1.6 has a shitload of legit and not legit players, i don't think steam counts the pirates. If steam did, I bet it would have over 200,000 players. I get better ping to a nonsteam server, so I play there and only about 25% of the people their are on steam.

what I mean is that it looks like a graphic enhanced version of CSS. Nothing special.
If you look at the steam stats it says more people play cs 1.6 than css, does that answer your question?

My old Half-Life: Counter-Strike CD begs to differ.

Yes it does thanks.

It will become... (DE) Dustier.
It is at times. But most of the time no.
Hell nah. Most definitely not.
It'll probably see a slight decrease in players, but it'll still be played. Just look at how many people still play CS 1.6, like others mentioned.
Some people like 1.6 for how it feel the recoil of 1.6 to source does differ. Physics are different people prefer the physics on 1.6 to source.
CS GO does play differently to source. So 1.6 will still be strong and source will be. CS GO will also have a lot of players to.
All the CS games will have a strong community.
