From notch's tumblr: Och med dom orden så passar jag micken. As of yesterday, Jens Bergensten is the new lead developer on Minecraft. He will have the final say in all design decisions, so he will kinda sorta become my boss, I guess. I’ve promised him to not pull rank. ;) We’ve been working together on Minecraft for a year now, and I’m amazed at how much in synch we two are when it comes to how to design the game. And when we don’t agree, we discuss it and something much better comes out at a result. He’s truly a great person to work with, and I feel very confident handing over the leadership of Minecraft to him. If you want to contact Jens, he’s on twitter as @jeb_, or you can email him at jeb@mojang.com Personally, I will now rest for a while, then get back to work refreshed and eager. I’ll be helping out with Minecraft, of course, but also starting work on some new project ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Whut i think: Jeb taking over is a good decision, also Jeb's amazing powers comes from his amazing hair
So basically only Jeb will work on Minecraft from now. [editline]2nd December 2011[/editline] I'm ok with that

About time.
All those holidays and vacations make a man tired.

its like the 20th time he starts work on a new project
Hasn't that already been the case for a few months?
Yes but now Jeb can release updates on time and not wait for Notch to get off one of his age long vacations to approve it.
Yes but now Jeb can release updates on time and not wait for Notch to get off one of his age long vacations to approve it.
And now that there's only one programmer, maybe we can have updates that don't break absolutely everything

I am actually Glad, but it also means we might get some less refined ideas. For example brewing was originally complicated and buggy until notch and jeb worked on it together to come up with a better system. @Captain Chalky http://twitter.com/#!/jeb_/status/119710836469149697 "A quick discussion with @notch led me in on a new way of doing the potion brewing. Cauldron is out..."

At first I thought instead of dragon there will be giant Jeb in The End... That would be freakin' awesome though.
So notch works on a game, give it to someone elae and runs off with money? This is like Nintendo buying Sega or popcap being bought by EA.
It's about time, maybe now Minecraft can actually get finished.
So notch works on a game, give it to someone elae and runs off with money? This is like Nintendo buying Sega or popcap being bought by EA.
It's nothing like that. Jeb is being promoted, and Notch is handing over his position.
Best Minecraft news since he announced the Halloween update in 2010.
Sounds like a poorly planned decision to get responsibility off his shoulders
Jeb can definitely do it, he's pro.
Sounds like a poorly planned decision to get responsibility off his shoulders
Either way, I think Jeb would be better at deciding the direction of Minecraft. Just my twenty right there.
I just think Notch is getting lazy not wanting to work much more with Minecraft :v: This is good, maybe we will actually see some content in the updates and actually get the finished game we pre-ordered.
So basically only Jeb will work on Minecraft from now. Maybe he's good at planning too.
I think its more notch wants to focus on his shitty virtual card game more than MC while Jeb doesn't give a fuck about scrolls and prefers working on MC due to it being more creative. This is a good thing.
Good riddance I say to Notch. Jeb has proven to be more than capable to handle Minecraft.

Where may I find a such wondrous machine?
Good.
so whats changing, exactly?

Its not a good concept to even work off, the only pro it has going for it is ~notch~.
