It's quite clear the monster wants you to make an underground farm. Assuming that your Minecraft world was cut off from everything else, you'd have been the first to do it. The "monster" saw your potential as you were living your topside surface life and he waited for you to fall asleep in order to take you to it's home. He left you an iron Hoe so that you could think for yourself and place some dirt near those patches of water at the start and then till them. He wasn't stalking you, he was fetching seeds and some food for you to eat. The fact that you ran just made it sad. He didn't want to kill you, or hurt you in any way, he just wanted you to live up to your potential to be a revolutionary farmer, and you blew him down. You could've been the first ever underground farmer, coronaz. You could've been the first.
