just bought metro 2033. Looked up pictures while it installs . SCARY! MUM!!. I really don't want to play this game now, but it cost a good 40 bucks, Is there any screamers in it (flashing images onto the screen) And or other creepy shit like hearing voices, because i simply cannot stand games like that.. I thought it would be a action/shooter. I do suffer from anxiety and i get really freaked after seeing weird shit (violence/mutilation/corpse desecration/things of explicit sexual nature are fine) I just don't like things that look fucked up and strange game atmosphere. Games that i have played. (aka i wont go out and buy amnesia just to see if its scary) that i found freaky enough not to play. Doom 3 Arx fatalis (that voice in your head) Bioshock 1 (2 was fine) Basically i don't like horror. Is it too scary for me to play? Edit: Bought metro in the my towns one and only computer store that is way overpriced. Just saw it and grabbed, cause it looked cool. Should i just get on with it and play the fucking thing like a real 14 year old wimpy adolescent, afraid to hit W to trigger the next script event? Bah fuck it, ima uninstall it and put the case in my cupboard and try it again a few years later, looks way to freaky.
Why would you not look up a game before buying it? [editline]3rd January 2012[/editline] Yes it will most likely be too scary for you to play.
So. Let me get this straight. You bought a game set in the Russian Metro after Nuclear War. You spent $40 without looking at any sort of media for the game? Yes, it has mildly supernatural elements, Horrible mutants and the Environment is truly warped in some places.
Metro was one of the least frightening games i have played. Stalker was scarier.
Where did you buy Metro 2033 for 40 bucks? It's like 10 on steam. And yeah Metro 2033 is full of violence (the Metro is full of corpses with ripped of limbs and lots of blood), creepy stuff and a few screamers.
screaming piepses
Metro was one of the least frightening games i have played. Stalker was scarier.
I found stalker ok, its just cramped environments that freak me out, i only got up to the mission where you gotta raid the bunker under the bandits base...
Metro 2033 is much slower than stalker in it's scares usually. it's more atmosphere. And if it does get fast it ramps up. There is only one part where I got spooked, if you want I can link you to my LP and show you where it is. I can't handle F.E.A.R. or Doom3 and Metro 2033 is much easier on my emotions. I freak out easy. You may as well try it and see for yourself - I don't really think the game was scary, just a few horror orientated levels. Give it a go and just play with low volume or something: it's a great game and the majority of it is just strong atmosphere and good action.
Just hold shift down and sprint the whole damn game, you can basically speed run it with throwing knifes as they are a one hit kill
Just play the game. It's not scary. At all. Totally not scary. The library did not make me shit my pants, no sir-ee. Nope. :suicide:
What the piss, if this scares you I'd love to see you play real horror games of the Silent Hill / Penumbra kind
Mutants, whispers, ghosts, you can consider some jump scares, to the average joe, its not scary at all, but you are screwed.
screaming piepses
seenging pieps [editline]3rd January 2012[/editline] also metro isnt very scary, there are mutants and thats really about it
Read the book first. Then decide if you want to play the game.
The book is far better than the game, though I still very much enjoyed both.
I found stalker to be more atmospheric, but Metro is still a great game. I should get around to finishing it.
The problem is I have read the book, and if the game is true to the book, i will have to face the dark ones, librarians, screaming pipes and all sorts of shit..
The pipes is the only creepy thing, and when I kept listening to it the resulst surprised me. Honestly any horror game where you can blast the horror away with guns isnt scary. Try Amnesia, shit will mess you up
