Dark Souls 'beginner' help?

Hi, Im pretty new to Dark Souls, and havn't played Demon Souls, but I was just wondering if I could get any advice.
I guess I'll start with my build

Planning to get - Dark Woodgrain ring, Wolf Ring, Mask of father, and then see how much I can hold while still being able to "ninja roll" and take it from there

So I play dex, and I roll a lot, and I backstab, and I use openings in attacks more than anything (backstab + attack is great :3 )
So I was wondering what I should be doing with my build, where I should be putting my points, what weapons and armor to get, is my build good, and all that kind of stuff, I just don't know if I'm screwing up or not :)

Any feedback appreciated, even if I have to start over :(

If you want the game to be easy mode for the next few areas, grab the Drake Sword. This video does a good job at explaining it:

If you still want some challenge, you can get a good dex-based katana by killing the merchant in Undead Burg. I think you'd need to level up your STR once more, but that shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I would but I play dex so Im not sure if it would be worth it
