Restarting steam fixes this for me.

Same problem :(
The steam friends server has been failing quite big yesterday, today it seems to be the steam cloud server.
When trying to launch the game directly from directory, it tells me something about gameinfo.txt in subdirectory hl2 doesnt exist. Those two error doesnt even seem to be related. Also, the date system is failing. I was launching magicka when a window with this came up : ''The Steam Subscriber Agreement has beed updated as of tuesday 8 november 2005.'' What.The.Fuck :tinfoil:

Also, this makes me think how empty my computer experience is without Steam :(
Same problem here. We're at a lan party and no-one can launch their steam games... Edit: Guys, start steam in offline mode. The games will start again. :)

Yep, its sure is a cloud problem. When in Offline Mode I have my favorite game selection back and games DO launch.
I restarted steam a few times and now i can launch games, but i just hope it doesnt go down again.
Delete clientregistry.blob? Works the last time i tried.
I got a Steam update and it worked when I restarted.
Its a bug, there was a big issue yesterday. Should be fixed now.
