Occupation CS: Source - A mod based on weapons and realism

What is Occupation? Here's some info taken from the dev teams MODDB page:
The Citadel has fallen and now humanity must get back up. With the alien nemesis defeated the surviving rebel army attempts to reestablish the rule of law. Unable to agree on whether to continue the Black Mesa experiments or to outlaw all alien technology the rebel army fractures into two rival factions: The Alliance and the Coalition. With the fall of the new alien enemy comes the return of the old enemy, ourselves. WELCOME TO THE OCCUPATION
The mod is heavily based on a few principles: Real Time Projectiles, Cavity Based Damage, Physics Calculated Terminal Ballistics, Bullet Deformations.
Sadly, most of the info on their page is patch notes but some features are:
If not killed, you'll get knocked down. Depending on your injuries and where you got shot, you'll lay on the ground for a few seconds. Minor injuries - Instant stand up or Critical injuries - 2-5 seconds of knockdown then able to get up with a dazed view and minor visibility for a few seconds.
You can also feign death by double tapping T, which actually works with the bots in the mod, which is new for me. It's also a effective "dive", if you spring.
Before spawning, you have to choose different classes, all with restrictions. Support are restricted to shotguns, MGs, medium and heavy armor whilst Snipers can't use any armor at all and can only use the M24 and a few handguns. Depending on your armor/amount of weapons and ammo, you'll move slower or faster.
There is also a Mercenary class, which can be deactivated, which can use all weapons and equipment availible in the mod.
The armor, which is really important, can take alot of hits. Depending on if you have chosen Arm, legs, helmet and visor on any armor (Light, Medium, Heavy) you'll have those areas protected againgst any low caliber weapon/ammo type.
However, if your enemy has a SPAS and is close to you, you are pretty much gone. Same with any gun availible.
Taken from the MODDB page:
Bullet Types:
Bullets come in a variety of shapes, calibers and material compositions.
Shapes
FMJ - Full Metal Jacket: Low Expansion, Low Fragmentation, High Penetration
JHP - Jacketed Hollow Point: Moderate Expansion, High Fragmentation, Moderate Penetration
FMC - Full Metal Casing: Low Expansion, Moderate Fragmentation, Moderate to High Penetration
HP - Hollow Point: High Expansion, Moderate Fragmentation, Low to Moderate Penetration
JAP - Jacketed Armor Piercing: Low Expansion, High Fragmentation (obliterates), explosive penetration
SP - Soft Point: High Expansion, High Fragmentation (obliterates) , Low Penetration, no ricochet
BT - Boat Tail: adds to the round less wobble, good accuracy and range
Ball - Ball Bearing Shape: low expansion and low fragmentation , very stable, greater accuracy and range, high ricochet
Materials
CP - Copper: Soft, Medium Weight, high deformation
AL - Aluminum: Pliable, Light Weight , moderate deformation
AU - Steel: Hard, Medium Mass, low deformation
DP - Depleted Uranium: Hard, Heavy Weight, no deformation
Bullets are projected over time, use external and internal pressure to determine flight paths, penetration and boring through solid objects (including you). They fly, enter, bore, exit, ricochet, lodge, drop and obliterate in and on all objects and surfaces in the game environment. The environment causes the expansion, fragmentation, slowing and deviation of all projectiles in the game creating a highly realistic combat effect.
As you can see, there is alot of variety in the ammo compartment.
I'm unsure about the amount of weapons but I'd say there are around 30-50 weapons in total, together with grenades (Fragmention, High Explosive and Smoke) and C4.
You can, aswell, drop ammunition and heal yourself aswell as teammates.
To pick up weapons and ammunition, however, you need to switch to your 'hands'. You can use your 'hands' to pick up ammo and weapons.
It dosen't look the best in the UI compartment, but it's very easy to learn and it isen't disorienting. It shows your ammount of mags/clips when you reload and the amount of rounds/bullets when you shoot.
This is everything I can think of at the top of my head, so here is some images that gives it no justice:

This mod has NO servers at all, currently, which is a disgrace as I think it deserves alot more attention.
Here is a link to their MODDB page for the download, if you wish:

Anyone wanna revive this?
I think we recently had a thread on this. We laughed at the UI.
Well at least the scope looks good. And the bullet types look promising.
It may be bad, it is, but it's easy to navigate.

Even playing with bots is fun, which I found suprising.
They desperately need a UI artist
Jesus man that UI is the worst piece of shit I've EVER seen. You HAVE to get someone to remake it.
Also you need really big, open maps with alot of cover.
Firearms : Source...
Firearms : Source...
Is pretty much dead, yes.

Why do I have to do all this? I'm not the creator.
And it has open maps, the engine has limitations.

No, really?
Wow, this mod is a lot of fun with just the bots! Is it still being developed?
It is, seeing as 3.1 was released the 13th of April.
the hud looks amazing. even custom gmod gametypes look better.

It's already been established that the hud is bad.
hey buddy
i dont like the hud
k bro
That HUD looks terrible.
Seriously though, I think that a revival of this would be pretty cool, it looks like it could be fun.
*comment about hud*
Holy crap, I remember beta-testing this more than a year ago. The bullet mechanics were solid then, but players were always an issue.
this looks like a shitty gmod gamemode.
made by jetboom.
The actual HUD in game isn't that bad, just the weapon selection GUI is.
I don't see how you can make such a terrible UI. Light coloured font w/ white background, what the fuck?
I swear this mod tries to be a FireArms:Source. It just tries to hard and will be brought down.
FireArms source is balanced and fun to play. This look like a tactic00l kid trying to make a name for himself.

Occupation was released and was started BEFORE Firearms.
Occupation was even a HL1 mod, if I remember correctly.

Doesn't make it any better.
Opinions, me boy.
Obviously the mod is fun, people are saying it is. Who gives a shit about the visuals if it's entertaining? The visuals can always be touched up later after it's given more attention.
This is a really nice game, but the animations are really bad.

Holy fuck you are stupid
The only thing they share in common is they both have guns and feature team based gameplay. By your logic every FPS is trying to be another team based FPS and "will be brought down"
Please don't contaminate the gene pool, but I doubt that will ever be a problem that comes to fruition.

I couldn't give a shit about the graphics, even if the UI is in desperate need of a proper artist.
I think the mod has some brilliant ideas IMO.
I like the health bar...
I remember I used to play this back when the different armor levels were shown as different levels of Combine armor(IE Light armor=Civil Protection,Med armor=Combine soldier, etc). It was EPIC AS HELL.I like how the wound system worked and the bullet simulation was sweet.
This mod is the definition of "single awesome programmer, expert in programmer art"
It has a very complex bullet simulation and damage modelling - when you die, you can get an "autopsy" of exactly what bullets hit you and how they affected your body - what organs they punctured, what body cavities they penetrated, (including the resulting internal bleeding) bullet fragmentation, ricochets, etc.
The guy isn't a mapper - I've not played this version yet but the last version used modified HL2DM and CSS maps, without optimization. Seeing as there are many good mappers about, that is an awful shame.
He's also no artist, that's for sure - the loadout/autopsy/deployment UI is a lesson in why programmer art is always a bad idea - but the game is highly functional and a blast to play. I recommend giving it a go.
