"Paranautical Activity combines the classic FPS action of games like Doom and Quake, with the randomness and difficulty of modern roguelikes like Binding of Isaac and Spelunky." Paranautical Activity multiplayer is definitely a thing that is happening and is the reason for the lack of updates recently. We’ve been really busy trying to get MP working. I wanted to get some sort of video to show for it before I wrote up a post, but it’s been far too long since I’ve posted on here. The multiplayer patch will be going live before the year anniversary of the game (february 14th) and after that the regular fast pace of updates should resume! :D
I just wanted to make this because I know a lot of you probably have the game now because of the humble bundle weekly. Happy Shooting!

Very fun game. I'm following the development closely and it's getting a huge patch in a month. It's gonna have 3 bosses, 2 enemies, 11 items, 3 powerups, 2 superweapons, new room types(armory rooms, trap rooms, risk room, superboss room), 2 floor types(dark level and level with holes that drop you back one floor), more sound effects, music and bugfixes. Biggest patch yet Pretty exciting
And multiplayer right? That's what they are focusing on.
And multiplayer right? That's what they are focusing on.
Nope, multiplayer is postponed so they could make this patch
Wat Im gonna need a source on that :(
Sure, give me a second [editline]24th January 2014[/editline] https://twitter.com/SpooderW/status/426034754430201857
Awh shame. MP would of made the game so much fun. I guess a content patch is good too! Wonder what their stance on modding is.
Just played for about an hour and I like it, but I feel like it's missing something... It might be just that the levels are too dark for my tastes, or maybe a lacking of weapons. I also don't like how the sword uses up ammo. Doesn't make much sense. I've also noticed it borrowing heavily from the Binding of Isaac. Not a bad thing, per say. Overall, quite enjoyable. Double jump makes things infinitely easier. I'd like it if they had rooms of varying size, too. I feel like this is going the route of half rogue-like half arena shooter, and these rooms are much too small for effective arena-shooty action.
What kind of MP will it have? PvP?

Apparently they fixed the no door glitch, but they didn't Got to level 3, no doors. gg

I like how similar this game is to the Binding of Isaac. My only real complaint is that I think there aren't enough classes.
Anyone know how to keep the gui from cutting off the screen?
What do you mean?
What do you mean?
Basically on the menu and character select part of the screen gets cut off no matter what resolution I'm on.
Pics?
My brother just randomly picked this up with profits from duplicate SnowGlobes during the Steam sale due to price and the description stating it was like old school FPS' mixed with a Roguelike. While it hasn't been something I play non stop, its fun to pick up every now and then. Only class I can really make any progress with is Tank, mostly due to its health and the fact that even at range its shotgun is decent.

Bought the game yesterday , health is kinda low :v:
Bought it a month or so ago, it's definitely fun, love the Whale boss.
I bought it back when he did the Kickstarter, ended up regretting it. The combat is like Serious Sam minus weapon variety on cramped levels. You don't get very many invincibility frames, so you die super fast. Not to mention, the whole game is rather dark and the enemies are dead silent.
yeah i got this from the bundle and its kinda bad, I honestly feel like it's something I could make, which is a bad thing. It feels way too floaty and i found a game breaking bug in 5 seconds - you can make the door close on you before you leave, and you can force the door open by throwing the sickle at it
The main thing they need to change is that some enemies blend in with the room.
makes me think of like an 8-bit Killing Floor
This game's biggest problem is present at the conceptual level; it takes binding of isaac style gameplay- where dodging things is of vital importance- and then puts it in a perspective where your body only exists hypothetically.
That I'll agree with. It definitely has problems and needs some adjustments, but I'm still getting a fair bit of enjoyment out of it. After Shadow Warrior I was looking for a shooter experience of the oldschool variety, and so far PA's delivering on some of the requirements. However I would like it if there were secret rooms that we could break open with our bombs, since exploring for secrets is important for oldschool FPS, though PA still does have mazelike exploration a'la Isaac so that's cool. So all in all, I look forward to seeing what they add next. Also if this game had a story, I'd guess it would be "there is a portal to an alien world in the deepest depths of an underwater research facility, and you are a mercenary sent to close it". Also, whenever I finish off one of those Demon Jawas, I tend to say "utinni, motherfucker". SUCH ADRENALINE.
