It's an older game from the early 2000s but is still amazing. Inspired by the same games as Star Citizen and with Newtonian Physics, this is a great game to get into while you wait for the eventual release of SC!
How is Jumpgate different?
Other space MMOGs on the market are "space adventure RPGs" with point-and-click gameplay based on leveling or building up your character's skills. Jumpgate is a flight simulator that requires actual pilot skill in docking, maneuvering, and combat. In other games, you click on something and watch your ship fight it. In Jumpgate you actually pilot your ship. Success or failure is up to you, not your stats.
Already sounds better than eve
How alive is this game?

Also what faction should we join?

They've only just gotten the game running again. At its peak there were a couple of thousand active players. Remember that this was in early 2000 as well!

Doesn't really make much difference, just the kinda ships you get! I would say that Solrain is a solid starting choice though!
Sounds sweet, downloading now.
I guess I can try this. Just to tide me over until Star Citizen is released.
Woah this looks pretty fun! Downloading later
From their faq:

The game full free.
Good to know.
Looks interesting though, will have a bash at it.
When i start the game i just see a pink flashing screen, tried compatibility mode but didnt help.
Here's a video of it from YouTube... It's like Freelancer. So yea, it's like Star Citizens grandfather.

Because they aren't the original devs and probably don't speak english very well.

Have you downloaded the windows 8 compatibility patch? It's on the website.
I'm Hezzy ingame, Solrain faction
Welp, there goes all my time, thanks Hezzy.
Hezzy you ingame right now?
This seems awesome, i'm going to get on once i'm done at school.
Every time I go to the menu while in game, the game minimizes then I can't get back into it.
Anyone playing? I'm Solarian
This reminds me greatly of Vendetta Online. Anyone remember that from 2005 or so?
I'm also a Solarion. I'm gonna hop ingame right now.

I'm QuinnQuan, I don't know If I replied back to you, there seems to be no way of scrolling up in chat?
I just crashed though. haha
This game was awesome, but difficult as fuck. It's such a pity that Jumpgate Evolution got canned, it looked really promising
This sounds pretty nice. I think I'll download it and have a go.
Edit:
I'm SailorDave in Solrain.

The menu system is a bit weird in the game, while you're on a station it is in a lower resolution for some reason. When you launch (or open the map) the resolution changes to whatever it should be
Old games man
I'll be jumping on soon. Let's see if I can finally get the hang of docking

I'm having trouble logging in. I created an account on jumpgate-tri.com, won't let me log in in-game saying username or password incorrect.

It seems like the intro trailer, menu, actual game and in-game map are all different applications.
You can skip the netdevil intro by alt F4ing it :v:
How many times does my ship need to be refuelled before it's refuelled
So far it's 20

Anybody got any ideas here? I still can't bloody log in.
Now I'm having another problem; When I try to start the game, my firewall asks me if I want to allow the intro thing, I tell it "Yes and remember blah blah", but it does it every time preventing me from even getting into the fucking goddamn game. Since there's no actual exe for the intro thing, I can't allow it through the firewall manually. How do I unfuck this mess?
Nevermind I'm an idiot, the fact that the folder had an icon confused the fuck out of me. May have fixed it.

But alas, I have not. I fucking hate COMODO sometimes
How in the world do I chat or figure out where to go? Im on a mission but there is no marker telling me where to go.
