Gameplay Details -First Person or Third Person shooter -Zombie Survival -Night is dark and full of terrors -Player versus Player at it's core. -More than just zombies in the world -Base Building, Town building, Fortress creation -Can burn down things others build. -Lots of crafting. Probably the biggest thing about the game. -Vehicles are already in. Possibility of aircraft in the future. -Based off the United States. -If you die, you lose your gear. It stays on your corpse. -"No skills or levels". -"Thousands of players". I'm willing to bet this will be larger, playercount wise, than planetside 2. -There will be Hunting. -Horses will be a mode of transportation -Camping was added recently -Pets are being considered. Tech Details -PC first, PS4 later. "Well, we are Sony" when asked about the PS4 version. -In terms of cross-platform play, Planetside 2 will not be doing cross platform due to the logistics of updating the game on the PS4 vs the PC. I expect that this has not changed so I don't see cross-platform play happening. SOE has made no comment on this point however, so I could be talking out of my ass. -"If you can run Planetside 2, you can run H1Z1 better". -"Orders of magnitude larger than Planetside 2". -Based of Planetside 2. Shares no tech with Everquest Next (so no Voxels). -Built in voice chat options. Monetization Details -Free to play -Part of the All-Access subscription that SOE is launching this month. $15/mo for premium sub in all SOE games. -"you seriously don't need to spend a dime. We're still figuring out the monetization but we will telegraph our plans early and let people comment and we'll listen if they don't like something and come to a place where people feel good about it." -Early Access ($20ish, on steam) coming soon Resources Official H1Z1 Website Official H1Z1 Twitter Page Wiki Wiki (Spanish) H1Z1 Twitch Page
oh, another one of these games [editline]14th May 2014[/editline] i guess it's cool that they have SOE backing them though. i guess that means it won't be shit-tier quality [editline]14th May 2014[/editline] the reason dayz and the like works is because there's not a thousand players in the game world at a time. sounds to me more like it's any other typical MMO except this time around you can get one shot killed for absolutely no reason (they better have the ability to opt out of PVP because nobody in their right mind would play with that shit enabled unless there's some kind of faction system where hostile factions can PVP each other but neutral factions cannot). oh, and it'll be about one hundred times more likely to happen too because the whole game world is crowded with bloodthirty thirteen year olds
Judging by the first videos, it looks like a really really really alpha game. The melee system and the zombie AI is not even better as DayZ. I'm not sure what to think about this, I'm just scared that SOE tried to jump on that trend of "survival games".

It could be good, the crafting system looks like it can go places. They have something special planned tomorrow at 2pm EDT/1pm CDT for their stream @ www.twitch.tv/h1z1 so maybe they have an official release date set for early access, it's going to be a F2P game after early access, so I mean there's no point in not trying it.

Nothing like the dull AI in DayZ The game is in pre-alpha right now, gotta keep that in mind
theres supposed to be some big surprise announcement today... hopefully early access?
theres supposed to be some big surprise announcement today... hopefully early access?
I don't think it's early access, but maybe they have a set release date for it or they're showing off something big. also a tweet from Smedley: no.not next week. we do have something rather big planned for H1Z1 next week. not ready to tell just yet though. on the 6th heres his twitter https://twitter.com/j_smedley
theres supposed to be some big surprise announcement today... hopefully early access?
I wouldn't count on anything, SOE offices are shut today due to wild fires... https://twitter.com/mhigby/status/466959049247182849

http://www.twitch.tv/h1z1/b/533493586 stream today showed gameplay/building. you can chop trees! the guy on the right something big is happening on the 6th!
Meh, zombie survival games are a burnt out feature set imo. Maybe if this one is exceptionally good I'll consider maybe trying it but eh. "~zombies~"

But now I see that being able to be 1 shotted at any times adds a whole new layer of intenseness to those games. especially dayz when there could be a hiding ANYWHERE
Really didn't like Day Z or Rust, probably won't like this.
Meh, zombie survival games are a burnt out feature set imo. Maybe if this one is exceptionally good I'll consider maybe trying it but eh. "~zombies~"
If you don't buy into early access ($20) it goes F2P once it is out of early access, so there is no point in NOT trying some day.
i find it to the be the opposite, its like you're playing tetris and someone randomly bats the gameboy out of your hand and the batteries fall out
You just dont walk down the road or in a field all hunky dory. Yeah it sucks when you die, but it's the tension that makes the game so fun, ESPECIALLY when you survive a dire situation, you feel like you really just pulled through in a life or death struggle.
[hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q82wir8swAQ[/hd] Looks more complete than DayZ standalone if you ask me
I can't wait to try this out. I think the main reason i'm going to prefer it over DayZ is the fact that its free to play. DayZ does not look like it's worth the £20 at all.
