http://blog.dota2.com/2014/08/dota-2-workshop-tools/
Today, we are announcing the Alpha release of the Dota 2 Workshop Tools. This is the first release of a new set of tools to create, play, and share custom maps and game modes for Dota 2. This is a developer focused release and currently has high system requirements which means not everyone will be able to run the tools. At the moment the tools require a 64-bit version of Windows and a Direct3D 11 compatible GPU. We are working on expanding the number of PC configurations (including 32-bit OSes like Windows XP) that will be able to run this but wanted to get the tools out there so developers could start working on their Custom Games. You can find more info here. In other news, as you recall from The International, Techies made a surprise appearance during the All Star match, giving hopes of fun and mischief to Dota children all over the world – that is until Arteezy decided to ruin the dream. The Dota 2 Team is working on the Compendium Stretch Goals and putting the final touches on the explosive gang. We’re aiming for a release by the end of August.
Cant wait until the end of august.

I feel like too much effort went into making these tools. *Source 2 cospirancy*
It's a nice visual update yes, but it's what's broken on the inside that counts.

This update fucked up my dota 2: mine says preparing to launch but then the progress bar just chills :/. Restarting, pausing/starting it didn't do anything. It's also preventing me from downloading other games and it won't verify the game cache files. [editline]6th August 2014[/editline] Send halp
Verify cache.
Read the last part of my post again? Trying to verify files does nothing as it just hangs. Also it deleted my cloud data and won't seem to store anymore.
Workshop tools crash as soon as I try to load a map riot pls fix.
Couple of in game shots.
thumb that shit.
Read the last part of my post again? Trying to verify files does nothing as it just hangs. Also it deleted my cloud data and won't seem to store anymore.
Try changing your download region. Or wait. It seems some people just magically downloaded out of nowhere.
Does this allow us to create custom heroes, or just custom game modes and maps?
Try changing your download region. Or wait. It seems some people just magically downloaded out of nowhere.
Doesn't work, tried a couple of different servers.
Doesn't work, tried a couple of different servers.
You have to opt in to the steam beta for some reason. No idea why.
vmap = vmf vtex = vtf vmat = vmt vmdl = mdl vpk = bsp vpcf = pcf
so far
so far
vpk is a compression type for an addon folder, not a map file
