About
7 Days to Die is an open world, voxel-based, sandbox game that is a unique mash up of First Person Shooter, Survival Horror, Tower Defense and Role Playing Games combining combat, crafting, looting, mining, exploration, and character growth.
In the near future where the a third world war leaves the Earth in ruins but the worst was yet to come. Nobody knows for sure if it was the radiation, the biochemical weapons or an act of god but an unknown virus soon transforms the surviving humans into an army of the animated dead, acting as a single-minded being.
You play a survivor trapped in the savage zombie infested world of Navezgane County Arizona one of the last true Eden’s on Earth. Ironically Navezgane means “Killer of Monsters” to the Apache who have inhabited the land for centuries, and that’s pretty much what you’ll do as you fight to survive and search for the truth behind what really happened.
My Opinion
I typed up this thread once and Facepunch deleted it when I previewed the post so I am gonna keep this short. For an early alpha this game is solid, and really leaves potential to be something great. I have played for hours on end, and even bought a server the day after playing (I was that hooked). Multiplayer has room for improvement but for now is very satisfying. Then again, building an epic underground fort with 10 other players working as a team, always is. The alpha is a bit expensive at 35$ but to be honest it is a privilege to be able to play what is, in my opinion, the best survival game I have played in a while. Not the most realistic, and no where near complete, but definitely the best in terms of potential and fun to price ratio.'
Worth the buy in my opinion.
Yes they do, but it provides an intimate side to zombie survival.
I could not identify which thread is the active one for this game, so I figured that this would be a good one to post in.
I have been playing 7dtd since Alpha 7 and am surprised that there isn't a more active discussion about the game. Are there any other FPers who actively play 7dtd? I have been a lurker on this forum for some time, but finally decided to take the plunge and join.
Oh snap, I remember looking at the Features Overview video ages ago, I had no idea this was on Steam.
Anyone bought and played it? Is it fun and worth the 18 quid?
How is the co-op mode?

I have been playing it for almost a month and have really enjoyed it. The crafting/harvesting is very similar to Minecraft. The addition of a thirst system adds to the realism without becoming a hassle.
The developers have been steadily adding new features and there may be a new update this Friday which may add several new systems.

I have been playing on a private PvE server for about 3 weeks and it is really fun. Some of the public PvP or PvE servers can also be fun if you get the right mix of players. The biggest issue outside of sniping other players is the lack of a land management system. The developers are currently looking into adding some sort of land management system, so that will help with peoples bases being modified/destroyed by other players when they are logged out.
This game is really fun though really unpolished at the moment. So far it's probably my favorite take on the whole DayZ craze because it's more focused on co-op.

So the users get Minecraft and the Devs get a voxel based version instead?
So the users get Minecraft and the Devs get a voxel based version instead?
What do you mean?
Anyway, I've played this for a while now, and it has its ups and downs. I've only played with one other friend, and also attempted an online server. Playing online really sucks though, because there is rarely ever any loot so for now it works best with a private group on a fresh map.
Would any fellow FPers recommend this game? I'm kinda on the fence about it.

It's surprisingly good, and it actually has a great atmosphere. Not worth $25 but if it goes on sale for $10 or something? definitely something to get.

I'm personally waiting for them to update the terrain to be smoother and add in random world generation before I throw any money at it.

You build with whole blocks, but you can destroy things on a voxel based level. It's quite fun to find a bunch of explosive barrels, dot them around a house and then blow the whole thing up.

Alpha 8.0 added the first generation smooth terrain which is pretty good.
Alpha 8.2 was released yesterday which fixed quite a few issues that were introduced with Alpha 8.0. This build also adds the ability to plant maple and pine trees from seeds, tweaked loot tables, new item icons, new sun and moon light and a host of other items. The complete build notes are on their main web site.
Alpha 17 Experimental was released the previous week.
Someone make a new thread or organize this one or whatever- There needs to be a revival of this shit. Had a blast on the old server.
Made a new thread: 7 Days to Die
