Will editing the sounds of VAC secured games get me banned

I am having a bit of fun with my friend and we wanna edit some sounds for some games, I tried CS:GO but we got kicked for different sound files to server.
I wanna edit Dungeon Defenders now but I can't find the sound files. I found a file called EngineSounds.upk; I am wondering if I get a program to edit it, will I be VAC banned?
iirc things that can get you VAC banned are direct hacks that modify the exe or dlls that inject something to the exe and memory editing e.g. CheatEngine.
Sound edits are just like mods and at most it'll just get you kicked out from a server if it's enforcing unmodified files.
Sounds mods won't get you banned. It might get you kicked from sv_pure servers, though.
VAC only bans for DLL and EXE modifications afaik

You dont wanna fuck around with sound files. Beter safe than sorry
Despite the fact it is pretty much safe, I still would suggest you to look more into that subject.
While in valve games you will get vacbanned over DLL and exe edits and nothing else, iirc some other games (Call of Duty MW2? If anyone knows better about it, please go ahead and correct me.) did let players get banned for file editing other than exe and DLL.
Of course I might be purely dumb and just misremembering things from a few years ago.
