What is Men of War: Assault Squad?

Men of War: Assault Squad is a RTT/RTS game by the Russian developer 1C company. It is part of the Men of War series, which includes Men of War, Men of War: Red Tide, and Men of War: Vietnam.
What sets Men of War: Assault Squad apart from all the other RTSs I have played recently?
Men of War: Assault Squad is set in the obscure and not so obscure theatres of WWII, including Singapore and Manchuria (albeit with not totally time accurate equipment), not that many RTSs are set there. It also brings the distinctive Men of War features, such as direct control (control the movement and shooting of a unit DIRECTLY with your keyboard and mouse), FPS-level infantry control (time the reloads of your soldiers, manage their ammo, have them throw grenades and knives, make them stand, crouch, and prone), fully destructible and burnable environments, and pseudorealistic tank combat.
Features of MoW:AS
*Direct control (see above)
*Accurate historical armory, including German, American (both the M1 AND M2 Carbines!), Japanese, Australian, British, and Russian weapons.
*Accurate historical motor pool (well, not just ground vehicles) , including motorcycles, jeeps, armored cars, trucks, tanks, SPGs, planes, and stationary weapons from all sides of the conflict
*A dynamic single-player campaign complete with better voice acting than Men of War, told from almost all sides of the conflict. Also, choose your reinforcements. No more "put up with what cards you're dealt"
*Vehicle combat with details. Kill gunners, shoot infantry out of halftracks, track tanks, disable engines, destroy main guns, and make tanks explode.
*Infantry combat with details! Throw AP, AT, Smoke, Incendiary, and Signal grenades, and shoot guns from pistols and revolvers to semi-automatic and bolt-action rifles to the feared DsHK. Combat comes complete with a skill system (now up to 4 stars!), and limited ammo. Infantry combat is totally projectile based, no "roll the dice" CoH bullshit.
*Guns have been rebalanced to realism, the PPsH is the fearsome weapon it should be, and the M1 Garand is the best infantry rifle.
*Fully destructible environments. Just be sure that the rubble dosen't crush your gunner when you're driving that tank through that 2 story house.
*It's not just Europe! Participate in operations in the Pacific Theatre, on the islands, and in North Africa.
*Multiplayer co-op.
*Multiplayer PvP that supports up to 8v8 players
*A totally rebalanced Multiplayer that puts the FOCUS on combined arms operations (well, tanks, infantry, and artillery).
*HDR rendering
*Good replayability, due to the "sandbox" nature of the long missions.

One of the best Multiplayer games to come out recently, I seriously recommend that you get MoW:AS. It's only problem is the relatively small community that plays it. There is an enormous amount of content without DLCs in this game.
Ahahaha japan overpowered?
No.

No.
I'm being sarcastic, if it isn't that obvious. Only game that I did VERY well in as japan was 2v2 infy only.

nyah, you can't tell that this is a copypasta job with a lot of editing?
(just like the FoW mission pack for this game)
you know, there is already a mow thread
you know, there is already a mow thread
It's really old and I didn't want to revive it
There's a pretty large Men of War thread which was being used as an Assault Squad one. Can't remember who the OP is or if they're still around though.
I ask if I should make a new one, that person says yes.
anyways.
What's your usual build when playing SU, early game (assault zones)?
I pick regular squad and ATR squad.
When I get enough points, I save for a BA10 or an assault squad for harassment and point assault (moving up onto the second CP on my side). After that it's midgame in which I usually go T34/85
Last post in the mow thread was made 1 week ago so its not really old http://www.facepunch.com/threads/943070/71 . We didn't need a new thread either. Anyway, cheesedelux only said that there is a pretty large old thread, never said that a new shitty copy-paste with old images thread is needed.
IMO I really hated the original MOW.
Extremely frustrating first level, with the voice acting only multiplying that irritation, along with the lack of choices the first level gave you.
I uninstalled it and had a sigh of relief that I got it for free in a GMG deal.

Singleplayer has always sort of sucked in Men of War games. Multiplayer is where it is at.
I thought we already had a thread for AS?

erm, I figured you were smart enough to figure it out yourself, but look at the post below and the ratings.
Replaced the photos as per your suggestions
Also, the original thread seems a bit disjointed in it's discussion (some stuff is about mods, other stuff is about Vietnam, because it's about the series as a whole), I figured a thread dedicated to discussing specifically AS would be a good idea.
After all, AS is a very different beast than the original, and Vietnam, with it's skirmish mode and rebalanced MP. You play skirmish a fuckton differently than you play most co-op missions.

eh, some people, me included, find the singleplayer rather fun.
Playing it co-op lowers the difficulty significantly because of morphine.
Posting here to proclaim my eternal hatred for the Commonwealth Willy MB with the AT gun on the top.
We should make a steamgroup so we can play together against the rest of the russian masses, it's fucking miserable to try and gain ranks in ranked games. The hosts are dicks and the players arrogant cunts, that will do everything to have all the high-rankers in their side while leaving the other team with beginners.

have you tried shooting the gunner with AT rifles or higher caliber? I've raped that jeep at range with the 222 because it's reload time allowed me to spam it with 20mm that pierced the shield. Then I capped it and killed a Tetrarch.

add steam to your profile or hit me up. I live in the US, I can get decent ping in UK games though
I'd post that joke "Next Men of War Trailer" in response to the title but it got blocked in the UK for some reason. Must have a few seconds on music belonging to some overprotective dicks.

That thing is hilarious.
MoW: Vietnam is not any good
Get some new screenshots for the OP, those are all on low settings and aren't really giving the best impression, graphically.

they're on medium (I have a 4850 brah), if you want to take some and link me I'd be glad to add them

post that in the vietnam thread

Can't get close enough to it with a AT rifle because it's got a 30.cal iirc on the passenger seat, not to mention the gunners on the AT gun are hidden by a fuck off big sheild.

yeah there's a vickers K in the passenger, but focus fire from a microed MG (MG42 for me usually) usually kills him if the MG is in ambush position.
It's not that hard to guess where the gunners are, you can just fire at the side that the person has to mount to fire the gun, and keep firing at that spot, since the second gunner will transition over when the first one is killed.
Also, there are a bunch of introductory strategy guides for the games on 1C's page, with fancy art n stuff

Fired 6 APCR rounds into the back of a tiger from 1 meter away with a Dodge Willies AT jeep. Didn't do anything. Not a crew injured. Nothing damaged. Then the Tiger reversed. Destroyed my jeep in a big explosion and THEN the tiger got damaged.
hehe =D
see, not totally OP.
He probably means GMC though, the AT jeep with the 2 bazookas is USELESSSSSSS
My problem with those little bazooka jeep things was that I always ending up using Direct Control on them for 'guaranteed success' (ha) and clipped a rock while flanking a tank and sent the thing rolling onto its back, crushing the crew.
Men of War's voice acting is why I love it. It is hilarious. Also stealing trains, stealing trains is fun.

what? trains?
I'm pretty sure you can't mount those trains in multiplayer or singleplayer, only the train mounted guns.
Mining train tracks is fun too

I prefer ambush with bazooka units if the enemy isn't supporting their tanks with infantry
killed 4 T34s of various varieties with a single panzershreck hidden in a bunch of bushes
You can drive trains. The carriages link together when you back into them too.
It's the best strategy in MoW. If train tracks with trains weren't invariably 'across' the map rather than from end to end there would be no better way to assault enemy positions.

but can't you mine train tracks? seems like an easy counter
plus trains are nice and slow, I don't think those passenger cars are bulletproof

also, holy shit, this game looks fucking legit, english release plx

" Tskhinvali On Fire that will focus on the 2008 russian-georgian conflict is supposedly a new game based on the GEM engine."
The basic idea in creating the game was to bring realism to a new level. Not do a project with great name, which "like-for-Russian-tanks-units" will shoot "like-for-Georgian-tank-units" on the cards, "similar-to-something", and the game in which carefully recreated the events of August 2008.
All missions of the game in detail followed by a course of events "Five days of war and reconstruction are the struggles and battles of this conflict. Cards for them are based on satellite images and pictures of the city Tskhinvali and several nearby villages. The reliability of the mapping involved in the conflict compounds, equipment and weapons to speak too. The project aims to be accurate and impartial coverage of the conflict, done a much informational noise and gave rise to many myths.
Single player campaign will consist of approximately 10 large missions over South Ossetia and Russia a total of about 17-20 hours. Subsequently, the download will be available for the mission of the Georgian campaign, and additional scripts.
Focus of the game is focused on urban combat tactics, and various command and control in terms of the settlement. In the South Ossetian part of the campaign the player will have to use the tactics of infantry ambushes and quick strikes against the enemy in small groups in his fire superiority. The Russian part is built around the proper use of available technology, is very vulnerable to fire anti-tank rocket launchers from the flank and rear, and are often not effective in areas with dense buildings.
I really hope they add proper guided missiles
that would be damn sexy (like with the sniper-timer to lock onto a target)
I don't want any more games on the fucking GEM engine. I love the setting they have there and all, but anything but the GEM engine.

You do understand this is because most of those groups are friends with eachother that play together, right?
I do that with up to 5 friends frequently
