Well, is it worth buying now or should I wait?

At $18 for one map not really, it's like pre-ordering and getting a beta. Gameplay is still pretty solid though.

It looks like it's main selling point is the nostalgia factor, but Unreal Tournament and Quake are still easily available and while Quake may take a little extra work because of it's age, UT is still easy to set up matches on. Unless this game is extra special in some way, I'm gonna give it a pass.

Not to say it looks bad at all. Just I don't know that it has really any place right now.
This looks fun but with UT4 coming out (and a playable alpha being out already) and UT2004 still being somewhat active I can't really justify paying money for what looks like a straight up clone
I really do appreciate what they are trying to do though

wow the time to kill looks pretty awful. what's with everything practically instagibbing everybody?
I'd like to give this a go, as well as Reflex. Great to see an arena shooter revival, especially since Nexuiz's attempt failed a few years ago.
I'm loving this, except for current rocket stats. Makes me cry everytime.

It's "ironsights" not "ironsites".
Just saying.
not to throw sand in people's faces but these developers should know by now that these kind of games just aren't the "in" thing any more. i mean it's cool that they're going down nostalgia avenue but look at another game that came out recently; nexuiz
these games just end up as horrible disasters two months after they come out

The Nexuiz Curse is exactly what I fear with this game especially since most advertising has been word of mouth.
For me, the principal mistake they made was to release their early-access with one small map. This is just not possibe.

I kept trying to edit the mistake last night, but when I hit edit I just end up with a blank post and would have to start all over.

Nexuiz had the problem of having not only a lack of advertising, but offering no casual game modes for the less skilled to play on. Toxikk has been given a fair amount of attention already, but plans to have gamemodes that appear to be similar to unreal tournament's onslaught, which kept the non-hardcore community alive in ut2004. Other arena games had made the same mistake of being purely arena, something that made quake III struggle to stay on the radar. The game not be that successful, but it has the right precautions.

Do that when I get home.

It was my understanding that it wasn't competitive enough, with the random mutators not allowing for a fair playing field. That's the criticisms I saw from some eSports players, anyway.
It looks to me like it's one of those games that will die quite quickly. It looks fun for maybe half an hour but then you find something better to do. Of course I could be wrong, but as of right now it sure looks like it.
The gameplay is definitely solid. I just hope the devs churn out lots of good content in the future.
So far I only played one round against bots and I really enjoyed the audio-visual experience. Some weapons have cool designs.
