What is The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth?
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is a Randomly Generated Rouge-Like Twin-Stick Shooter about a naked boy trying to escape the clutches of his mother, who is trying to sacrifice him to God.

The game is very much like Zelda in the sense that it is a dungeon crawler where you go from room to room, fighting enemies, collecting pickups, finding items in treasure rooms, and fighting a boss at the end of the floor, but Rebirth is also very different from The Legend of Zelda. The game is made to be played over and over again through "runs". Each run will last 30 - 40 minutes. Now, you might think that the game would get boring quick if you played it again and again, but this is where Isaac's true colors appear. It is randomly generated.
The layout of each floor, the boss you fight, the item you find, the enemies you fight, etc. are all randomly generated.
There are three areas at the beginning (although you can unlock more floors as you replay the game): The Basement, The Caves, and The Depths. Each area consists of two floors (making it six floors for people who can't count), so you fight two bosses and get two treasure rooms. Once you clear those floors, you will have a one-on-one match with your mother.
On your first run, the game ends when you beat Mom, but if you play again, you will find the entrance to a whole new area (and a special surprise if you beat Mom in under twenty minutes)
If you die, however, you will have to restart your run from the beginning. So be warned.
That is just the summery of the game. I haven't even scratched the surface of the sheer amount of content in this game. There are literally hundreds of hours of gameplay in this title.
What do they mean by "Rebirth"?
The Binding: if Isaac: Rebirth is a remake of, well, The Binding of Isaac.

The Binding of Isaac is pretty much the same as Rebirth (dungeon crawler, rouge-like, yada yada yada), but with Rebirth out, I don't recommend it. For one it doesn't have as many features, it doesn't look as good, and it runs on Flash. Rebirth is faster, has loads more stuff, and got rid of many of the inconveniences that the original had.
Although before Rebirth, it was the total shiz.
How do the items work?

The items are one of my favorite parts of The Binding of Isaac. They're how you get crud done. Items have various effects along with a nice cosmetic change. They can be stat upgrades, (damage, firerate, speed, etc.) active items, (press a button to use them) or just weird stuff (like turning enemies who touch you into poop) There are many synergies with the items to make you either super OP or weaker than a monkey turd.
You get these items from the before-mentioned treasure rooms, after defeating a boss, from a shop, or by giving the Devil some of your heart containers.
Is there more than one playable character?

There are many characters to play as. You start out as Isaac: the default jack-of-all-trades character, but if you do the objectives below the locked characters in the selection screen you, well, unlock them. The characters have many traits, such as Judas being the Glass canon, or Maggy being the Tank. Some have better stats than others and some start out with certain items. It's pretty much like any other game with multiple playable characters.
Is the Soundtrack any good?
Well, it depends on your preferences. Personally, I enjoy it. It has some ambient tracks that really fit the mood, and it has pretty kick-ass boss themes as well.
Sound cool! Where can I buy it?
It is available on Steam, The Playstation 4, and The Playstation Vita for $15.00
What is the purpose of this thread?
To introduce this game to some first-time-lookers, and to discuss this game with veteran players. (trust me, there's a lot of stuff to discuss)
Happy Isaac... ing...
God dammit...
There's already a pretty big BOI thread.

Damn.
I thought there was none...
Oh well, all that work putting the thread together for nothing...
sigh...
The other thread's op is kinda outdated/empty though. Maybe you could ask Postal to update it with your info.
