• New (or old) virus that sends Steam messages.

I woke up today to find that I had these messages from a friend of mine on my phone: I opened the chat on my PC, and this is what it looked like: Any thoughts? PS: DON'T FOLLOW THE LINK! IT'S MOST LIKELY A VIRUS!
Valve really needs to up Steam's security when clicking a link gives full access to your account, holy shit.

The server sends it as a download. It just presents you with the file as a download then when it's downloaded I think by default it automatically runs.

I never open a picture that wants me to download it first.

You start the dl yourself but on most browsers it will automatically open when done iirc.

The fact that puush occasionally fucks itself and the images don't work properly and download onto your computer corrupt instead of opening in your browser, and there's no way to fix it apart from restarting puush and re-taking the picture, so I figured the image was just fucked and I was going to have to tell this dude to unfuck his shit. and 2.) What the fuck why is it a .scr Later I checked the CSGO thread and found out it was a scambot, and honestly, I feel like one of these days I'm going to fall for it. I almost gave away my credentials once because one of my friends got one of these that gives you a fake steam page with the "I WANNA TRADE WITH YOU BUT I CAN'T DO IT ON THIS ACCOUNT" in broken English with a webpage. The only reason I didn't fuck up there was because I was already signed into Steam on my browser and had it open in another tab. [editline]6th January 2015[/editline]
You start the dl yourself but on most browsers it will automatically open when done iirc.
I cannot confirm that no browser will do this but none I have ever used have, and that's like IE, Safari, Chrome, and Firefox. The only "big" one I've never touched was Opera.
What the fuck why is it a .scr
screensaver files are by far the easiest way to hide a virus, and it works multiplatform. but if you were really trying making a virus you would just tell someone to run a shell script saying "sudo rm -rf /*"
I cannot confirm that no browser will do this
I forked chromium and made it do this, for what it's worth
It's pretty much a variant of dorkbot. Been around forever, just made for steam and to steal items.
What I'm wondering about is why do all the bots have broken English.
