Reply just as the title suggests, and give your reasons. For example, I dislike how Minecraft is becoming more and more adventure-like instead of the original "Fight to Survive" and sandbox-ey mode ever since the Wither came out. When I first played Minecraft (Beta 1.4), it was all about surviving and building beautiful structures, all without an ending objective. Now, it has become more and more of a go-and-fight-the-enderdragon like game.
Who the hell thought "double tap 'W' to sprint" was a good idea? Frustrating for me because sometimes it doesn't even work, and I have to mash the key until my fov stops bouncing.

This would be okay if they weren't removing so many features that made the original Minecraft good and replacing them with new shit stuff. The new World generation system is so bad. We don't get the crazy floating islands or anything anymore, and the Far Lands are gone. People in servers are no longer making rumors about the Far Lands or trying to get there or telling stories about people who tried to go there and never returned or whatever, they just don't exist. And, with every updating breaking every mod, causing most mod developers to quit because it's not worth it to keep updating their mods. Also, I don't want these fucking ugly villages spawning in my world, and I can't turn them off without removing all the cool dungeons and abandoned mineshafts and stuff.
Minecraft was once about building and crafting. Now it's just enchanting bullshit and unneeded crap. (psst, mojang, the combat system is still absolute shit, TAKE THE FUCKING HINT)
I'm disappointed how Minecraft could have become a far better game than the shitty state its in now if the developers wasn't a goddamn idiot like Notch

Partially at fault is multiplayer due to the lag and terrible netcode, but still. At least smart moving fixes it, sort of.
While I appreciate the simplicity of the style I still sometimes wish the game had better graphics.
I kinda feel like Minecraft is becoming a bad mod pack.
While I appreciate the simplicity of the style I still sometimes wish the game had better graphics.
I think Minecraft is different just because of these blocky graphics. It's kind of like its trademark.
I really don't mind all the stuff they've added so far, but I'd rather see more diversity in biomes as I prefer the adventure aspect of Minecraft. I don't understand how they could have an ice block but not throw glaciers in the oceans, it would make a cool base and seems easy to do. Also I despise the lack of exploding volcanoes and other disasters in the game, mobs simply don't pose much of a threat compared to mother nature.
How mods like Xray are the norm and everyone has it.
I have a problem with poison potatoes. What is their purpose? They have too low a probability of spawning to be a nuisance with potato farming, so what's the point? They have no use. Why not implement them into a potion recipe or a cooking recipe? Or add something actually useful. I don't see the purpose at all with useless items like that. And MC is growing bipolar. You have enchanting, nether portals and brewing on one side with redstone contraptions on the other. Is this a game of magic or technology? Make up your mind.
Nether is still boring. Just adding quaryz isn't going to make it fun. World gen suddenly got boring. It got a bit better, the hills are a bit cooler now, but what about awesome mountain rivers or mountains where the grass ain't gray-ish blue. I only like the forest or the jungle grass color now. Also there should be much more awesome trees. These are getting so boring. And I don't mean add more chocolate to this game. I mean a new treegen. also more use to slimeballs. Spiky blocks/pistons, stuff like that. Also I haven't even seen a witch in this game. I know that they exist but I haven't seen any. None.

Remember how long slimeballs were useless? And villages? Same principle with potatoes.

The vanilla game is plain lacking in many ways - the combat is uninteresting, the mobs provide no variety, the "bosses" are basically just tacked on to keep some mainstream appeal... then there's the inconsistent and downright unintuitive mechanics behind redstone - nobody actually uses it as a game mechanic, it's just a toy that's thrown in as a bonus. The game's been under continuous development for a long time, but it's never had a real focus to the development, is what I feel is the issue. Many, many features feel tacked on up front, which just adds insult to the injury of their often poor implementations. And then there's the persistent bugs and general weirdness - the lighting on inverted slabs and stairs has been broken for god knows how long. It was even fixed once, but the changes were rolled back because they came as a part of a massive lighting overhaul that performed poorly for some users. And the networking is still terrible despite that things have been merged together purportedly to allow more work to be done on the overall game systems, as the two codebases aren't separate for single and multiplayer, but the core systems of the game have remained as broken as ever while yet more features only some players want get heaped on top of it. It's a jenga tower of content at this point. It doesn't fit together right and looks terrible, and eventually it's going to fall over.
I was never bothered by combat because the game was never about the combat of it.
What gets me is that once I build a dirt box with a wheat farm I'm effectively invincible. I need some danger goddamnit. Mobs as they are are hardly a threat
I think Minecraft is different just because of these blocky graphics. It's kind of like its trademark.
Yeah but the textures are fucking awful.
They say it's "retro textures" but really it's just developer art, it shouldn't be what a final product looks like, even if it's going for a retro style. They allow texture packs at least, so it's not much of a problem.
I still don't get why people are annoyed at Minecraft's default textures. Maybe it's just because I've used them so long, but they look fine. What texture pack would you rather the game look like?
The fact that you can get (or even make your own) texture pack pretty much moots any complaint about the default.
the Far Lands are gone. The Far Lands were the area that formed the "edge" of the "infinite" map, composed of massive, corrupted chunks that raped your framerate and fucked up the game the closer you got. It was nothing but a mass collection of distorted terrain. Minecraft would crash if you went further in. I'm not sure why on Earth you'd want to even go to the Far Lands other than to go, "Oh that looks cool, nothing else to see here n-n-n-n-n-n- Minecraft.exe has stopped responding."
I think that's part of it, the idea of a place past the edge of infinity where the universe starts to break apart
I think that's part of it, the idea of a place past the edge of infinity where the universe starts to break apart
Don't get me wrong, I actually really liked the idea of it, I was just pointing it out for what it was. The second you saw it or experienced what it did, you'd know to immediately turn around because that's it. That's the end. It's Clusterfuck Land from there on out. And let's be honest, it was neat looking in it's own distorted way. Now it's gone and replaced with fake ground that you fall through and die. I have no idea why Notch removed such a good indicator of the end of the world. The framerate was only so bad if you got close enough.
My main complaint is that Minecraft simply does not have the same spirit that it had three years ago. In my book, Beta 1.7.3 was the peak of Minecraft, and after that, things steadily went downhill, as Notch and Jeb began to run dry on ideas and elected to implement the stupidest of ideas. Back then, things were much simpler and entertaining. Servers with anything more than the simplest mods were unheard of, as the regular game was already jam-packed with amazing new features that came every new update. Journeying out into the dark was anything short of suicide, bread was the staple food of every player, and creepers legitimately gave players a heart attack. The Nether was a place of cooked pork, dangerous lava, and constantly eroding road networks. Every monster was a threat, as health didn't regenerate and food took up valuable inventory space. A single diamond was worth the risk of death, and full diamond armor was a sign of fabulous wealth beyond comprehension. Every world generated was a unique gem that acquired its own personality, with amazing new landscapes just beyond the horizon. Nowadays, Minecraft is just not the same. Servers need huge modpacks to bring in the slightest interest, as vanilla servers are abandoned within weeks. The excitement and mystery of a new update is crushed by weekly snapshots that fail to impress. The monsters and perils of the night are rendered harmless, as health regenerates fairly quickly with stacks of melons at hand. Once plundered of its measly treasures, the Nether becomes useless, save for a faster way to travel. Diamonds become the norm rather than the exception, as Fortune enchantments quadruples the amount of materials harvested from each vein. Finally, every world created is a stale, boring plain that never satisfies the urge to explore and find new lands. I think one of the problems from this is the fact that Notch and Jeb adds things that no one asked for. The End, the Enderdragon, and the Endermen are completely stupid ideas that have no place in Minecraft. Food like melons, chicken, beef, potatoes, and carrots are pointless on the grand scheme of things. Enchantments, potions, and beacons are just too much effort to really be useful and feel too magical to fit in the game. There is just too much fluff as a whole. Bats? Cats? Withers? Wither Skeletons? It all just points to a lack of originality. I've played Minecraft on and on since Beta 1.4_01, and I've had a hell of a time. The Cheshirean Empire, 2b2t, the Open Trail, Goose's Faction Server... It's all just memories now, and I think if I start playing again, it'll probably be on a regular, singleplayer world in Beta 1.7.3, where my fondest memories are.
