[T]http://i.ytimg.com/vi/5GLIZCd854w/maxresdefault.jpg[/T] What is the PS4 video game, Godzilla? Godzilla is a new game released on the PlayStation 4 that allows you to control Godzilla, or a big number of kaiju included, to smash your way through cities, or duel with other kaiju, with the end result of defeating them to gain access to their cells to use in evolving your kaiju to become stronger. However, if you evolve your kaiju while its still in a game mode, it won't receive the upgrades until you've completely finished it. Gameplay Gameplay-wise, there are 5 modes; God of Destruction mode, King of Kaiju mode, Evolution mode, Diorama mode and the Kaiju guide. God of Destruction mode - "God of Destruction mode consists of the player controlling Godzilla or other monsters as he attacks certain stages, and is similar to Godzilla Generations. In order to clear the stage, the player must destroy all of the G-Energy Generators in the map, while also being attacked by G-Force and occasionally a boss. Some of these stages are timed and the player must destroy all of the Generators before the timer expires. As Godzilla destroys objects such as buildings, G-Energy Generators, and military vehicles, he will increase in size. Godzilla begins the campaign at 50 meters in height, and can reach an almost limitless size. Bosses that Godzilla faces will be leveled at the appropriate height based on Godzilla's current size. In order to complete Destruction Mode and reach the game's true final boss, the player must reach 100% destruction in each of the stages, discover all four special camera angles in every stage, and exceed 100 meters in height by the last stage. If all of these requirements are met, after the credits roll the player will begin the final stage as Burning Godzilla and be attacked by the Super X3 and several DAG-MB96 Maser Cannons. After this, the Legendary Godzilla will appear as the game's true final boss and must be defeated before the timer expires and Godzilla reaches meltdown. After Legendary Godzilla is defeated, the game's final cutscene will be triggered." King of Kaiju - "King of Kaiju is a game mode where the player plays through six stages, each with a different monster to fight. The monsters increase in strength the further the player progresses. The weaker monsters will appear in the first two waves (such as Mothra and Jet Jaguar), slightly harder monsters in the third and fourth, and the most powerful monsters in the final two stages (such as King Ghidorah, Gigan and Kiryu). The Heisei Godzilla, Burning Godzilla, and the American Godzilla are all playable in this mode." Evolution - "As the player defeats certain enemies and destroys certain structures in Destruction Mode, new abilities will be unlocked and can be applied to Godzilla in this mode. Godzilla can receive new attacks, including the "victory dance" from Invasion of Astro-Monster, as well as atomic breath upgrades, including the ability to use atomic breath to fly as in Godzilla vs. Hedorah, as well as fire Minilla's smoke rings or use a white misty atomic breath based on that used by the original Godzilla in 1954." Diorama - "Throughout the game, the player will unlock monster models and other objects that can be placed in an environment and viewed from various angles and used to take screenshots, allowing the player to recreate battles from the film or the game, or to create fantasy battles." Kaiju Guide - "The player will also unlock bios for various monsters from the Godzilla series beyond just those featured in the game, which appear here (called "Monster Field Guide" in the Japanese version of the game). These bios include pictures of the monsters from films they appear in, as well as information about the monsters' attributes and film appearances. In the English version, the monsters' bios contain some inaccuracies, such as listing incorrect heights and stating that the Godzilla in the Kiryu Saga is the original Godzilla." You're able to change your title, and your stats from your wins and other modes appear on your player card to others. this game looks like such a letdown :x yeah the slow movement and everything about the game is true to the films, but it really just doesnt hold up as a game, and imo the 'faithfulness' that it achieves just doesnt translate well to a game. destroy all monsters and save the earth were so much more fun, we need another game like that. no local mp either, and there are a lot of design issues... (i hear a lot of complaints about biollante and mothra being straight up unfair, due to biollante being able to have such a wide range of attack all around him at once? and some monsters moves just entirely miss larva mothra due to its small size and height, yeah it makes sense but thats still p shit.) and from watching gameplay, there are a lot of times that it becomes difficult to see what youre doing due to so much smoke and shit all over the place, and some monsters make it difficult to see what youre doing, like ghidorahs wings are so fucking big they cover 90% of the screen if you have the camera behind him, easily fixed if you could just zoom the camera out though. also a whole mode that just revolves around destroying generators constantly is boring as hell, and they really want you to play through that lots of times to unlocker monster upgrades, i dont see how they thought that was a good idea though i dont get the complaints about the graphics, keep in mind its a multi-gen game. for what it is i think it looks pretty good, and for those that say that it looks PS2-tier, go and emulate save the earth or melee. those games have aged terribly and this game looks so much better. [editline]24th July 2015[/editline] the actual fighting is so dumbed down too, barely any moves [editline]24th July 2015[/editline] oh and its hard for me to precisely tell, but the stages are either the same size or smaller than the stages in melee or save the earth, but i could be wrong on that
While there are some flaws with the game, overall I'm really enjoying it
Should I buy this at full price or wait for a discount? From what I've seen this is hardly worth full price.
Should I buy this at full price or wait for a discount? From what I've seen this is hardly worth full price.
Discount, not worth 60 dollars, but it is a decent game. Just, you know, not 60 decent. More like 30 decent.
Hey kids, can't decide on your own? Let the Fat Gay Nazi make the decision for you: It looks pretty bad.
Will we never get a Destroy All Monsters style game with the roster of Unleashed?
I want a Godzilla game that has destructible physics, 2 player local, and good graphics. This game seems pathetic imo.
Will we never get a Destroy All Monsters style game with the roster of Unleashed?
What ever happened to that series?
What ever happened to that series?
Unleashed got poor reviews iirc so Atari/Pipeworks never made a sequel to it.
pipeworks havent done anything of note since unleashed (and even then unleashed felt kinda unpolished despite a bigger roster, i havent played it that much but im not a fan of the UI and the graphics just manage to look worse than the previous two)

a puzzle game is hardly notable
Unleashed got poor reviews iirc so Atari/Pipeworks never made a sequel to it.
I want to rate this post dumb because of the stupidity of Atari. People loved the series.
I watched the Best Friends play this and thought it looked like a pretty good €20 game. Then I went on PSN and saw it was €70. What are [del]Atari[/del] Infogrames thinking?
I want to rate this post dumb because of the stupidity of Atari. People loved the series.
Personally despite the fact that a lot of people seemed to think Unleashed sucked I thought it was awesome even if there was a few problems. Hard to believe it's been 8 years since it came out.
Unleashed had dreadful glitches and controls But it was such a great series and there were so many monsters that should have been added in a sequel :( rip hedorah zilla ebirah etc
Unleashed was good fun. Not as solid as Destroy All Monsters, but the huge selection of characters totally gave it some feet. Jet Jaguar was fabulous.
