Sub Rosa is a multiplayer first-person shooter about tense deals, double-crosses, and the occasional high-speed car chase. Set in an alternate, laissez-faire 1980's city, you make your way through each day however you can with just one goal: MAKE MONEY. Multiple corporations vie for money and power by taking control of different colored disks through cleans trades or bloody acquisitions. Both cash and disks are immensely valuable and allow players to purchase guns, cars, equipment, and even stock in their own company’s success from day to day. Smooth transactions and smart business practices with other can eventually lead to riches while a quick trigger and a steady aim can get you there faster as long as you're the one still standing.
Sub Rosa is a 4 team based "business simulator". Each team is a corporation, corporations get different objectives such as finding disks with information you can deposit at your HQ for money, limousine assassination missions and trade / sell missions with other corporations. It's a completely physics based game together with a accurate car driving / gearbox simulation. Guns are handled in a way almost identical to the game "Receiver", which means stuff like reloading is done with key combinations. Characters are basically walking ragdolls, your arms sway around during car chases, which means aiming is hard, the bullets dont automatically fly their way to the reticule, but to the way the gun is pointing. There's no global chat, communication between corporations is done by the manager, which has a phone with which he can call the other managers, the only chats available are local text and voice chat. There's NPC cars driving around, and NPC's also defend some mission objectives. Each day is a round, every round you need to get as much money as you can, money is persistant between rounds but equipment and vehicles are not. (except for the extremely expensive shades and cool white business suit) Oh, did I mention you can dual wield almost every gun / item? But dual wielding m-16's doesn't go well because they are too heavy, they will just sway around like noodles. You can buy the alpha for $20 at http://subrosagame.com/about Some media from the official website: And now some personal screenshots: Ducking from a drive-by while my friend (driving) shoots back Loads-a-money
that price tag though.
The idea sounds neat but the artstyle is uuugh
ended up buying it anyway.
Forgot to mention and I'm for some reason not able to edit the thread, but the free old version is still available here: http://www.crypticsea.com/subrosa/ Oh and if you purchase it you get a steam key.
Remind me of this game where you had to protect a vip
'20$' Seriously?
Remind me of this game where you had to protect a vip
Black Shades? That game was really cool.
This is by the guys that made the New Zero game, right
20 dollars is just.. probably not worth it?
Its not really a lot, there are worse games that ask for more. When I played the older version it was a shitload of fun But right now I just spawn in as a dude with nothing, I guess I have to be here at the round start? Else i'm just walking around not doing much of anything.
They started charging in the middle of alpha? That's strange. Wasn't it free up until now?

this is actually pretty fun, definitely worth the 20 dollars. as long as there is players.
Here's a beginners guide btw: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=301242646 damn, wanted this to automerge. [editline]6th October 2014[/editline]
this is actually pretty fun, definitely worth the 20 dollars. as long as there is players.
Oh hey I saw you, I was the blue guy that offered you a lift in a giant yellow limousine.
Oh wow, it's been ages since i last saw anything from this. I thought it was dead.
I thought it was dead.
Exactly why I would never put $20 into this.
It's not really dead, there's like 4 servers for the free one that are always online and then the official(?) server for 0.21 always has enough people to have a decent set of teams [editline]8th October 2014[/editline] Also pip I didnt realize you were on FP too, I'm Lewdis from the other day, you got me to buy the game from this haha.
$20 tho
I dunno, doesnt seem a lot to me. Converted its £12 and I've paid more for shittier games, but for some people I do think it would seem a bit offputting to put such an amount on a game that looks pretty bare. If it was a beta I think the price would be justified, right now its only not repetitive as shit because of the player interaction. If you stick with it I think you can easily get $20 worth of fun.
$20
Guns are handled in a way almost identical to the game "Receiver", which means stuff like reloading is done with key combinations.
Fucking sold
I might buy these games are way more fun than you think
Somebody made a thread tons better than mine, migrate the discussion to here: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1429993
$20 for this chuck of shit? I thought Sub Rosa died anyway, good news that it hasn't!!
Is anyone here still playing this game? Would love to get it if we could play it as a team with a few people
I like how the highest resolution texture in the game is a stack of money.
I love how it took a year for this game to get a HUGE update and now its getting updated constantly. Thank you Alex Austin, one day we shall be playing sub rosa in the moon.
