Coming in here just to nostalgiafag over Red/Blue/Yellow will be met with laughter, shaming, and your post will be screen-capped for future comedy. Though many things differ depending on a specific canon's interpretation of the series, what remains constant is the focus on creatures known as Pokémon, which can be captured, trained, and used to compete against one another in battle or, more recently, other activities. For every friend code you have registered on your 3DS, that friend will have their own personal safari zone with 3 pokémon of a specific type. You'll want as many as you can, and the denizens of the Pokémon thread are compiling a list of friend codes to help each other out! Just ask in the thread if you want to be added to the list or if you want to add someone else: Pokémon General Friend Code List -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Developed by Niantic Inc., Pokémon GO is the first official Pokémon-themed game to release on mobile devices. Recently released worldwide, the game is designed around players physically traveling to various real-world locations while randomly encountering pokémon as they go. Pokéballs have to be thrown at wild pokémon until they are caught, and catching multiples of the same pokémon will reward players with candies they can use to evolve the ones they've caught. Pokéstops act as item distribution centers, assigned to fixed real-world locations, that allow players to randomly find a variety of items for use during the game, and can also yield eggs. Like in the main games, eggs can be hatched after a certain distance has been traveled by the player. Unlike the main games, gyms can be captured by players and be defended from others by their pokémon. Players can be assigned to one of three teams: Valor, Mystic, or Instinct, and gyms can be captured for the player's respective team. This allows other players of the same team to help defend gyms against players from opposing teams. Remember to stay observant of your surroundings while playing, or you might black out!* *[sp]get mugged or run over[/sp] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [del]SPECULATION STATION FOR NEW HAWAIIAN-THEMED DESTINATION[/del] [del]Hawaiian license plates Hawaiian emergency vehicles compared to those shown in the announcement (blastoise is riding on the back, isn't that cute) The "Strange Souvenir" item received in X/Y looks suspiciously like a tiki head This glimpse of a new pokémon in development from the announcement appears similar to a species of birb that lives in Hawaii Some interesting tidbits highlighting the significance of the Sun and Moon in Hawaiian mythology[/del] Welcome to the Alola Region! We burned through ~60 pages in the old thread in less than a month after Go was released. It took about four months for us to get through the first half of that thread. So that's neat, I guess.
