Release Date: 31st January 2013 Platform: PC (Steam) Price: Free 2 Play Developer: Edge of Reality DOWNLOAD HERE! Game Information: Loadout is a new “Free-2-Play” take on fast-paced, multiplayer shooters. Players invent and customize their own outrageous weapons to carry into furious, over-the-top shooter action that truly distinguishes itself from the vast array of “modern combat” titles. Earn new weapon parts, character customizations, equipment, and accessories as you gain prestige and wealth. The more you play, the more you can customize. There are endless possibilities to truly set yourself apart from your opponents. We’ll continue to update Loadout with new items, customizations, game-play modes, features and much more. The developers have stated that Loadout’s F2P strategy won't be selling power. Instead they will point towards the League of Legends style, “we want to do something similar to LoL, we aren’t going to make the best weapons and items available only in the shop, we want to only offer things like cosmetic changes and experience boosts”. When asked whether a higher level player would have an advantage over a lower level player, a developer said there would be very little to none. Players will have the chance to win random weapon parts at the end of matches, because of this a lower level player may get lucky and receive a part that a higher level player hasn’t seen yet. Looks cool, I like the graphics.
art-styles awesome looks like a great MMO
looks cool but "free-2-play" I can see this going south... lets just hope it takes a better approach to f2p than some title's we've seen as of late
It'll be pay to win as par usual.
Looks like it'll give a bit of mindless fun with all that gore, signing up to the beta.
found some gameplay on Gametrailers which also shows off some of the customization http://www.gametrailers.com/video/pax-east-loadout/729158
I really, really hope they don't fuck it up with a horrible F2P model.
What specs does my computer need to run it? It's F2P so that must mean that has to be medium or light. Right?
Art style is amazing, looks like a comic. Usually devs just slap cell shading on the bitch.
Looks pretty fun. Signed up for the beta.
Those trailers really emphasize on how the lower portion of the body keeps jogging on even if the upper portion is blown up in a comical manner. Either that or it seems to be happening maybe a little too much in gameplay if they just accidentally recorded so much footage of it.
Signed up for the beta, sounds like my kind of game if not for the fact it seems pretty likely to be pay to win.
Signed up for the beta. Hope the beta players get something special making them not having to pay or something.
Signed up for it, looks kinda fun and I'm not gonna lose anything if it turns out to be bad. Just because it's free to play doesn't mean it'll be shit, look at Tribes: Ascend for example. Yes, it's much easier to get new stuff if you spend money on it, but everything is a sidegrade, you can easily get on the top of the scoreboard with just default weapons and items
Dick-guns. Calling it right now.
Signed up. Looks fun.
I signed up too, I really like the artstyle. Customization looks fun but I'm sure some people will use the most powerful/gimmicky loadouts instead of actually experimenting.
So a better TF2 but Hats=Guns. Sounds awesome.
Assuming the Rambo lookalikes are just a placeholder, this looks good.
Looks like a fast paced 3rd person tf2 with a dash of borderlands style.
Assuming the Rambo lookalikes are just a placeholder, this looks good.
Looks maybe the default character, it shows a bunch of customization stuff in the trailer.
If it doesn't do what Blacklight did in terms of gun customization I'll be happy, gotta grind your ass off just to buy a stock or barrel for your guns in that game and eventually I just gave up.
I can see a lot of ways this game can go wrong by using a f2p model.
signed up, now this looks really awesome and all, but i can't help but feel trying to balance this game is going to be hard as shit. Not to mention I'm certain there'll be a "best" combination for all weapon types.
http://mmohuts.com/editorials/pax-east-preview-loadout interesting read there for anyone wanting some more info, has some info on the F2P model they are going with, which can be seen below. "As for Loadout’s F2P strategy the developers made sure to let me know that they aren’t going to be selling power. Pointing towards the League of Legends booth a developer remarks, “we want to do something similar to LoL, we aren’t going to make the best weapons and items available only in the shop, we want to only offer things like cosmetic changes and experience boosts”. When I asked whether a higher level player would have an advantage over a lower level player I was told there would be very little to none. Players will have the chance to win random weapon parts at the end of matches, because of this a lower level player may get lucky and receive a part that a higher level player hasn’t seen yet." EDIT: so it is a bit TF2'ish with the random drops at the end of rounds
Looks cool, I signed up for the beta.
Edge just posted an update on their site, "A quick update: PAX East was awesome - even better than we had hoped! We met a ton of fans, talked a lot about the game and what people want to see in it, and got thousands of Beta sign-ups. We just passed 10,000 registrations! A big THANK YOU to everyone for their interest and support for Loadout! Here’s a quick rundown of events we’ll be attending later this year: We’ll be exhibiting at the Rooster Teeth Expo (RTX) in Austin, TX on July 7th and 8th. We’ll be at PAX Prime in Seattle, August 31st - September 2nd. And, we hope to be at QuakeCon in Dallas, August 2nd - 5th. Maybe in the BYOC area? We gotta look into that. We’ve received many inquiries on the Loadout Beta. We’ll send out emails soon, letting folks know when we can start letting players join. So, keep an eye on your email for instructions. All of our Beta players will get special in-game items as a "thank you" for helping us out with the game. Also, we're going to start rolling out some suggestion contests on Facebook and Twitter, so you can tell us your opinion AND get a chance to win some free stuff! A lot of fans we talked to wanted to know about character customization, more weapon modules, and more levels. Here's what we're working on right now: A second character type Lots of character customization pieces New game types and levels More pieces for the weapon-inventing system All the technical back-end that will let us do matchmaking and other large-scale server stuff We'll be adding more video and updates on a regular basis, to keep you up on where we're at."
New video on weapon crafting was just posted on their youtube channel,
Looks a bit cartoony but hopefully the ability to create dildo launchers will make up for what otherwise looks like your average F2P third person shooter updated to 2012 standards
