Buildings?
I mean, sure, new stuff is good, but... why?
That's the thing I dislike about the newer Worms games. They're trying to push their games as "the next Worms: Armageddon", but at the same time they're trying to twist the formula in some way.
Going back to the buildings themselves... I'm not happy with this idea. Sure, the game has been getting increasingly nicer (visual appeal-wise), but for me it's just harder to find your way around the battlefield. I liked the simple look of Worms: Armageddon way more. The background was mostly uniform-looking and the foreground was visibly different from the decorative stuff. The difference between visual flavour and actual playing fields was like night and day. But looking at W:WMD's gameplay... I'm trying to wrap my head around what is the background and what isn't. Take, for example, this promo image.

Where is the entrance? How do you enter the building? Is this the foreground or the background? How does destroying it work?
...that being said, I really wish the best for this series. Armageddon was probably the pinnacle of the series and I really want the Worms team to outdo themselves.

I never noticed you could even go in the buildings. I've only had one match so far. I'd imagine it's like vehicles though where you stand next to it and press a button (Y for xinput) to enter.
Also if you don't like buildings the best thing about Worms is that you can customize the game scheme to your liking. For buildings, there's a simple checkbox for including them when you generate maps.
The buildings i've seen so far are sensible: they have an opening on the top and one on the bottom? Those are the entrances. Their layouts inside mostly make sense too (so towers have staircases, castles have different rooms, etcetera)
I kinda like buildings because they can let you have more tricks on your arsenal. Mines are finally useful as mines instead of shitty dynamites. Hiding inside a building and booby-trapping the place down can make some fun multiplayer matches.
The one thing i dislike so far is how some of the classic weapons are part of the pre-order package. Unless they release them for free down on the line, its a shitty move. Aesthetics? Don't mind, the masks are great, the voices too, that kind of stuff can be paid for those who want it, but weapons, something that truly affects gameplay and can give advantage to a paying player? Not cool.

If you encounter a player with the pre order weapons, the game allows you to use the weapons, too.
That's nice then. Couldn't test it out because only played the campaign and local matches so far. Issue solved.
i'd still say it's pretty shit to be putting actual gameplay content into pre-order bonuses.

Third place, not bad, even if it's only day 1 of release.
Only my third try, attempt 1 and 2 were silver medal.

That doesn't refute anything he said, instead it shifts the time-period from release to 2 weeks after release.
What about the people who pick the game up later on? They're still going to be shit out of luck with that game-changing content being unavailable to them.
Two weeks after launch, when all the reviews are out, is plenty of time to decide. These things are for the biggest fans, and you still get to use them in the same lobby anyway.
Looks like there was some sort of deal with the preorder content (because its based on other games by other people) that was only valid till launch. Which is why they won't offer it as DLC later and etcetera. At least i heard something like that during their stream
Still, that might explain the orcs must die and broforce weapons, but putting Kamikaze as part of the preorder "classic pack" was kind of shitty

That still doesn't change anything about the stance.
What about the big fans who are in a bind financially? Do they just eat shit because they can't afford to treat themselves because of higher obligations? School's starting again for a lot of people so expenses are going to be focused on tuition and books rather than games. What about people who are new to the series? Is their exposure to the game not important enough that they're not allowed to utilize the gameplay content unless they run into someone who has it?
There's a fine line you walk when you put a time-related restriction on content that affects gameplay. There's a difference between rewarding early adopters and withholding tools from everyone else. If they open up the content availability to late adopters through a DLC that's different because then it's a financial reward for putting faith into the title rather than a system that ensures that a majority of players don't get access to it unless one of those early adopters is playing with them.
Most sales happen in the first weeks. Nobody would care if some cod players bought some pistol as a limited edition, especially if others got to use it anyway.
Even if that's wrong, they may release the classic DLC anyway, since they've always done it before. It shouldn't be a problem.
I can never have enough of Concrete Donkey.
Oh man, didn't even realize this was out. What's the consensus so far?

It's good
The biggest complaint so far is that the ninja rope isn't like the one in Armaggedon (even when there's a rope exactly like armaggedon, you just need to craft it first)
When you compare this to pretty much every other worms game after armageddon where people complained about everything (because everything was indeed terrible) you know that they finally got back on the right track
The new mechanics are nice too, and if you really hate them you can turn them off and make the game Armaggedon2016. So yeah it's a pretty good worms game alright
Great, so I gotta get this AND Mankind Divided
And my wallet is already empty
To be clear, the default rope still has Armageddon physics, it's just limited otherwise.
It's way shorter. And in a sense i kinda like that - instead of roping across the map without much trouble, you actually have to plan around and use wild swings in the air way more to cover ground. I feel it rewards more skilled players instead of being an easy way of moving around (clarifying, i'm not saying you didnt had plenty of skill moments with the rope in armaggedon - i just feel the shorter rope in WMD forces you to be more creative and precise with your jumps and swings)

Oh shit this is OUT? Already? BUYING
Two weeks after launch, when all the reviews are out, is plenty of time to decide. These things are for the biggest fans, and you still get to use them in the same lobby anyway.
If that's true they should really emphasize it. The trailer gives the idea of pay to win so my original impression was to never, ever buy this game even if it got 10/10 reviews.
snip
I would get this but I'm not to happy about how they removed Crazy crates gamemode. Plus I haven't heard any word about soundbanks or custom hats.
They're going to keep adding features into WMD with the fans' guidance.
Meanwhile, the stock hats & soundbanks are nice too.
i had a guy survive my kamikaze with 2hp once
it was... upseting.

So question about this, does that mean I can get the content if I buy it right now on Steam?
[editline]a[/editline]
The answer is no, if anyone else was wondering.
I think so, even though that tweet is the only mention of it... it won't hurt to try, right?
Or maybe someone else here can tell us. I think it'd be in the DLC tab of the game's settings.

Nope, I bought it, don't see the content anywhere.
