The visionaries at Respawn have drawn inspiration from their proven experience in first-person action gaming, and are building on that pedigree by taking a new approach to game design and creating an all-new universe with Titanfall.
So, is anyone else going to get this on PC? Would be awesome to get some kind of FP squad going at launch!
If I have any money I'll probably get it.
I'm buying this for Xbone.

Stop locking games to origin you fucks
Stop locking games to origin you fucks
I don't really see any downsides with origin, except that my game collection is pretty scattered between services right now.

That's what I mean. It's just stupid, my biggest gripe is having 2 separate friends lists
[editline]19th January 2014[/editline]
I mean I'm not going to go through all my steam friends and ask them if they have origin and BF4... it's just annoying.

It runs on source, but the engine is so heavily modified the only thing it shares with valve's source is the name.
Respawn chose to build Titanfall on the Source game engine early in their production cycle due to their developers' familiarity and its ability to maintain 60 frames per second on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.[8] In an interview, Respawn software engineer Richard Baker said the company chose Source since Portal 2 performed well on the PlayStation 3 with it, and the console was "the riskiest platform in current gen".[8] The company built upon the engine during development in features such as lighting, rendering, visibility, networking, and tools pipelines.[27]

This is not correct. Titanfall is built on the Source engine, but it is not a simply mod. We didn't choose Source to make a "Source game", we chose it because its a great foundation to build our own technology on. In addition to everything we've added, we've made significant changes to the engine at all levels including major changes to parts that are not accessible to modders at all. We've rewritten or rearchitected major systems to support the needs of our game and our developers, including things like rendering, lighting, visibility, networking and tools pipelines. If you don't get everything you want you're free to call this an excuse if you'd like, but it's the reality of developing a multi platform title with next gen capabilities with a relatively small team.
I normally get kinda hesitant towards gamed geared only on online play. Games like warhawk/starhawk or other shooters with no single player usually turn me off because I think one day the game will be dead and I won't be able to play it anymore unlike a single player game.
And then you have to consider they will definitely make a sequel if this game is successful so that will divide the number of players between the first and second game.

think of it as solo multiplayer
every match is also a campaign match with like 20 or 30 ai dudes all providing support
You need to correct the OP to include Xbox 360.
Already preordered and ready to go.
Stop locking games to origin you fucks
That's like saying Valve shouldn't lock their games to steam. It'd be good but its never going to happen. Having multiple friends lists is fucking terrible though. I don't want to have steam friends, Origin friends, and uPlay friends. It's a mess.
As far as the game goes I'm really looking forward to it. I have an itch for a CoD styled, fast paced game, but modern CoDs are ruined by all the kill streak shit. Hopefully Titanfall will scratch that itch.
I'm wondering if this will be noticeably a Source game.
I find I can just tell what engine a game is on by playing it for a while. If you played the original Operation Flashpoint and then any of the newer Bohemia games you'll know what I mean.
Same with Half Life 2 & Vampire: The Masquerade/ CS:GO etc. There's something that just makes it 'the same' even though they're trying to be different games and are by entirely different developers.
Quite interested in understanding the hype around this.
It looks basically like Call of Duty with a little Halo sprinked on top and some Battlefield thrown in the mix. The mechs don't look to be that big of a part of the game, hell they're killstreak rewards it seems?
Is the singleplayer story suppose to be good or what?
I wouldn't be surprised, given how this is on the source engine, if the same wood breaking sound was in.

How's Battlefield thrown into this?

Yeah, i really hope they don't go for the whole Brink Approach because that short 2 minute cutscene system they used to have before singleplayer multiplayer shenanigans wasn't cool.
please don't be another brink please god no no nono

Scale possibly? That's the only similarity I can really draw.
Are thread versions still relevant? I thought there was no longer a post limit.
I'm actually glad to hear it's 6v6. The newer (And even older) battlefield games are way too small for 64 players, CoD is too small for... well any number of players. Generally, the smaller the player count, the less of a total clusterfuck a game's MP is - getting shot from every direction, enemies around every corner etc.
These things should happen, but as a result of good tactical thinking from the opposite team, not by an unnecessarily inflated player count.
Well, technically the battles will be 18 v 18. 6 humans with 12 AI bots.
If you include the ability for each player to bring in their Titan, that is 48 actors on the field at one time.
Excited to see how they go about incorporating story cinematics into multiplayer. Will we choose sides before playing, ala Tom Clancy Endwar? If not, I wonder how they will handle different intros for each team, considering the motivation and the characters are very different between the two factions.

I doubt the AI will be anywhere near the threat level of the human players though. I wonder if there'll be any way to easily distinguish between them?
They might just fucking aimbot like most games, only game that did it right really was Unreal Tournament.
I doubt the AI will be anywhere near the threat level of the human players though. I wonder if there'll be any way to easily distinguish between them?
I'm pretty sure the main reason behind adding the AI was in order to lower player frustration by giving more opportunities for uninterrupted kill streaks and such.
Considering the focus on mobility, I'm hoping that if nothing else the AI's pathfinding ability is stellar. The one thing that sets apart NPCs from player characters is their stiff navigation.
As for combat abilities, I'd imagine they won't be much different than Killzone or Ghosts squad bots. They looked pretty natural in the trailers, though.
If I had to wager a guess, players will the most easily identifiable group in the game due to the ability to drop a titan.
One of the leaked alpha videos showed the AI being only worth a fifth of the score of a player, doing greatly reduced damage, not having the jumping capabilities (players are called Pilots, AI is called Specters and Grunts depending on faction) and being really really numerous - they're not like bots, they're like the mooks in the campaign of a CoD game - really they're cannonfodder, there was a bit in one of the leaks where they're pathfinding fucked up and the player recording the video killed literally 20 of them fast enough for the score feed not to go away and show "GRUNT KILl(20X) 400"
So the quality of their AI isn't really as important since they're mostly used to create a more intense athmosphere and give players that aren't as good something to get score from or distract enemies from the Pilots who are the real threat.
