In this post-apocalyptic urban world, death is waiting around every corner, at the top of high-rise buildings, and in the grasp of powerful teleporting creatures known as 'Nethers'. These creatures and the other players are real challenges to overcome, requiring tactical gameplay, awareness, stealth, and cooperation. To navigate this high-tension environment, you must use skill and cunning in order to scavenge, trade, craft or loot for food, weapons, supplies, and other resources necessary to stay alive in a desolate and dangerous city. Team up with other survivors and take advantage of group play, as a tribe, to complete treacherous world objectives, or play as a lone wolf in an attempt to endure the hostile environment. In the end you must decide whether to Prey or Pray.
Resurrected? What?
NETHER...IS...BACK! We have rolled back the game to Summer of 2014, when it first left Early Access and was still being developed by us, Phosphor Games Studio. We are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement to re-take the lead on Nether. We don’t own it, but have creative and operational control over the title. Since last year, we have been among you, the fans and users, frustrated with how the game has evolved. We want to go back to the roots of Nether.
What will Phosphor be doing to Nether? (and already has done some of)
1. Getting you back the original game! So, by Halloween (Nether’s 2 year anniversary BTW), we will have the MBER back end ripped out, the game rolled back to the build we launched out of early access in the summer of 2014 (when we were the developer for the game), and you will be able to play local single player. From now on, all you’ll need is your Steam account. 2. As soon after that as we can manage, we will have player hosted servers enabled, so you can set up your own games and play MP again! We want you to be able to own your game, and deal with cheaters and hackers how you see fit. 3. We’ll also be ripping out the concept of gold, IAP, and any traces of pay to win. 4. After that, we want to start adding in mod tools and expose server settings so you can make the game even MORE what you want - more/less players per server, more/less guns in the game, more/less Nether in the world, more/less PvP, on/off Tribe friendly fire…we’ll work with you to figure out what server configurations you want to mess with, that we can enable.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/DShGRPk.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/qzlAru6.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/8uugvLh.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/wrXT4QC.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/mtIwT3M.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/RKpSgM5.jpg[/t] So basically, this game used to be pretty great, and then somehow it came into the hands of retarded developers who kind of just took a huge dump on everything. Looks like the original developers (Phosphor) recently got their hands back onto the game, and now -- it's Nether: Resurrected. They have already started making improvements to the game, and the resurrection actually started some time back in October. Seems like the game is shaping back into its original state, and that's exciting because I really enjoyed this game back when it first came out. Hopefully very good things are to come from this.
I totally forgot I owned this game. I'd love to see it become good. It seemed like it had good ideas, but fell flat.
oh thank fuck yes my only question is, do i have to buy something new or is this being updated with the copy i already own?
I'm pretty fucking stoked about this. Nether around release was the fucking best.
I really enjoyed the start of Nether. Got to talk to a bunch of the devs after I was reported for hacking by a lot of members. Even have some pictures of all the stuff that happened back then. But a dev told me about it and sent me a key so I didn't have to go through the process of emailing them and proving I owned Nether previously. I don't know if it will be popular though, I've only seen 30 people on one US server and around the same for the EU server.
I was thinking of hosting a FP server but I don't know if the dedicated server tools we have now have password settings or not. On top of that I can't seem to join my own server which is annoying.
A Facepunch server would be pretty cool actually, especially considering if we organized tribes and whatnot.
here's to hoping they expand the map as well.
I've always wanted to try this out, but the bad reviews made me cautious about it. Is it worth the $10 for the resurrected version? How does it play solo?
What's the replay value of this game? Is there a crafting system like 7 days to die where you build your own housing and everything else? Might be worth a winter sale purchase if its more than run around and loot then bunker down in pre-made buildings.
solo is like the MP experience just minus people just yourself loner
Is it doable alone? Sometimes I'll play a survival game on my own, like Ark or something, and it'll be fun, but super grindy because you're supposed to work with a big group of people on everything.
I wanted to play this game for a while, if there's a fp server around I'll buy it and join in
Wow, completely forgot about this game So what, they dropped it's development completely and are now re-working on it?
