http://www.hazeron.com/ http://www.hazeronwiki.com/Main_Page - much needed wiki Sometime ago, Facepunch visited this game and made their name known... SO what is this? It's sort of like what we wanted Spore to be. When you start SoH, you'll need to join an empire or create your own. If you create your own, you'll need to create the race for it with a variety of options, you'll need to give it a flag, set the government type, name the government titles, and so on. When you've done this you'll materialize on an uninhabited planet somewhere in the galaxy, as long as there is another empire in that sector. The game is shown in an FPS perspective, or top-down perspective using the backspace key. Alternatively, you can join my empire which is the Prime Illuminate, I am at tech level 10 (TL10). Or, you can make a Facepunch empire - do what you want alright m8 but wot can u do? You can create cities, huge manufacturing centres, farmlands, commercial districts and so on You can create moonbases, off-world colonies You can DESIGN and create starships (designing a ship is based off a grid system, you paint rooms on a grid and add objects, really good) You can explore a huge and procedurally generated galaxy (you can find ringworlds if you're lucky) You can completely annihilate other empires, or make them your vassals You can build an "Ark", fill it up with colonists and resources and fly to the edge of the galaxy, far away from the galaxy, build up your strength and suddenly invade everyone - I think some people have done this, there was a harvester invasion at one point You can trade, co-operate and ally with other empires You can skin Targoss (the tutorial guy) and make your starter flag out of his leather and bone You can progress technologically, advancing up to TL32, discovering new components and exploiting new resources You can do a shitload tbh Join the steamgroup if you're a coalition member, or want to be: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/hazfc# send me a PM to get your empire added to the coalition, include co-ords for the private empire information google doc. Only FC empire leaders will be able to access this, as of now, so that info is safe. So how much have this game progress the last year or so?
So how much have this game progress the last year or so?
Still trying to find, but the most obvious is the new way planets are built on - it doesn't use a grid system anymore, planets have a circular placement radius, and roads can be built and stretched like in simcity. You can also design buildings. There are multiple resource zones, depending on the size of the planet. Old planets are stuck on the old system. Also, pirates are in the game now (AI) As for lag, it's just delay. The game is stable.
I remember playing this game long ago. We really need to get the Facepunch empire up and running again
did they (or he, dunno if it's a team) revert the update which kinda made everyone on FP and almost everyone else quit playing because of the bullshit it caused? [editline]20th August 2013[/editline] I might play this again though as it was kinda fucking cool even though I never expanded beyond my moon. It still was something special (and laggy server wise)
Looks interesting. I may try it out later.
Can you load up your ship with dangerous monsters and proceed to invade an enemy ship with them, killing or atleast ruining the crew?
Meh, it's not like we can ever get the former glory of Toucan again. [sp]fruit loops[/sp]
Gonna take me a while to get the hang of this. Back when it was popular I saw screenshots and dismissed it as some weird lego spaceship building game(as all the screens I saw were just of ship building), unaware it had any sort of online or its potential.
wait, does this have a singleplayer mode now? clicking the icon with the surface of a planet dumps you on a planet without having to log into the server.
that's known as primevil mode, a limited instance based single player mode and you could load up a ship with monsters if you wanted, there's also infestations now, for some reason it's possible to get a rat infestation on a ship
Oh fuck its this thread. FYI Syndicate has this galaxy by the balls. PTMC died a long time ago, Tymas is nothing more than wandering souls and deserted cities, I don't even know what came of Toucan. I hear that Haxus isn't a turbofag anymore. Section 31 is already looking for a new employer. Civilization has spread across the galaxy, Warp Drive makes disatances almost negligible. Flying from Tymas' Capital to Imperium's Capital takes less than 15 minutes at warp 9. That was a trip that took over a week at light speed or 4 days if you knew the wormhole pathing. Planets are handled differently, new planets no longer operate on a grid system. Galaxy has changed, politics are kinda at the low point right now, and Syndicate are being actively compared to the Reapers. They show up when the galaxy wakes up, they conquer everything, and then go dormant after taking on new members.
does the universe map thing still exist or did they remove it? I remember it being on the hazeron frontpage.

I like the slowness of it.
I don't think I'm going to start this back up. I've started playing this game far too many times only to stop a week later.
does the universe map thing still exist or did they remove it? I remember it being on the hazeron frontpage.
Nope, Galaxy map was pulled. HOWEVER if you get an airport build you can use its map and you can see all sorts of shit. A TL32 airport lets you see 32 sectors in every direction and I'd wager (I have yet to even look into city management this round) that you can see every sector that every other one of your airports can see. Currently, however, city detection is based on power output and right now airports don't require power. Meaning you can set up complete stealth cities as long as there is no power in that city. of course you're limited to hab-zone worlds but still. That might be changing soon though, we'll see. [editline]20th August 2013[/editline]
That sounds awesome besides the availability of the warp drive. I like the slowness of it.
Warp drive is also TL24, and you gotta cram a shitton of them on a ship to pull off warp 9. Holy jesus though its soooo worth it. Even warp 1 makes wormholes damn near obsolete.
if i start playing will you give me a better start by joining you than if i was to take it on alone
Ah, those good old times where we'd kill a guy 20 times, skin his corpses, made clothing of it and gave one to the creator of the game. It's his favorite ingame item now.
I created my own empire a while ago, i just logged on since a while and everything is gone now :/
Oh shit. It's this again. I remember my planet crumbling to dust after a bit, tried to fix it and left.
I remember boarding an FP spaceship and we dropped off at some unknown planet with little buggies/cycles or whatever, it was great fun. Although I think everyone died when the pilot fucked up or something, or got stuck on the planet, can't recall the details. And oh man the lag.
I'm the head of Syndicate. The game is still rather unplayable past the first interesting month or so, but the developer, Haxus, is listening and making progress pretty steadily. He seems to have learned from his past blow out at Toucan. If anyone wants, we can provide you with warp drive upgrades to your wormhole ships.
The lag actually hasn't been too bad lately. I've been wandering the galaxy looking for a new home. Also, somehow, despite being gone since march of last year, my ship was still in orbit and still anchored to a station in Tymas' former capital system. Full fuel, barely a scratch on her. She powered up and it was like I'd just left her there the day before. ALSO warp drive can be controlled via a galactic coordinate system. No longer can you only fly to systems you've been to before. Now you can be on the opposite end of the galaxy and enter coords for some random planet all the way on the other side of the galaxy and it just... goes. Crew is all "Setting course for destination coordinates" and then "Engaging warp, warp factor 9" and FWOOM. Granted flying that far still takes half a day, but thats all the way across the galaxy in half a day.
will you be in transition mode (with the red bar and stars) all the time, or will you be in some kind of warp tunnel like EVE, but still able to walk around and do poker?
If you guys get a good FP empire together, we of the Syndicate would be willing to provide you with warp drives and other resources. [editline]21st August 2013[/editline]
will you be in transition mode (with the red bar and stars) all the time, or will you be in some kind of warp tunnel like EVE, but still able to walk around and do poker?
It'll be a lot of swirly stars.
Haxus has set his sights on fixing the lag as part of a whole group of improvements designed to make the game less annoying at a basic level. He's only one man though, so it will take weeks.
I remember my first time playing this game, had no IDEA what im doing, friends tell me to get in space ship (more like a rocket) why the fuck not, i get in naked and they tell me to press two buttons and i do, i fly into fucking orbit 'OH SHIT IM DYING' and they are like 'FUCK WE FORGOT TO GIVE YOU OXYGEN' and im like HOW DO I EJECT and they say the button, now the fucking rocket was not stopping and i was flying sideways into space, i ejected in the most outter layer of the atmosphere at high speed, what happend is that i flew AROUND the planet in low orbit and ended up on the other side in the ocean, i swam like 4 minutes to land and started my own colony there. [sp]not so[/sp]good times
will you be in transition mode (with the red bar and stars) all the time, or will you be in some kind of warp tunnel like EVE, but still able to walk around and do poker?
A little of both. once you're underway it'll be a few seconds of ingame flying with stars visibly moving past you and then some swirly LSD loading screens, then back ingame, and back and forth as you move from system to system.
Don't worry you have rocket engines now, meaning that you can build shitty ships that don't need moonbase resources, making it infinitely easier to get in space for the first time. But normal rockets are way more rewarding when you do actually land them on a moon.
Meh, it's not like we can ever get the former glory of Toucan again. [sp]fruit loops[/sp]
Oh hey Anyone want some really old ship designs, shout at me.
