PURCHASE DEAD RISING 2 ON STEAM THREAD MUSIC NEWS: Feel free to discuss Dead Rising 1 and/or Dead Rising 2. I don't acknowledge the existence of Chop Till You Drop (Wii port of Dead Rising). Available on 360 Story You play as Frank West, freelance photographer. Frank has received a tip that something big is happening in the town of Willamette, Colorado. After his arrival at the mall, Frank discovers the town is currently suffering from a sudden outbreak of zombies. Frank has 72 hours to discover the reason behind the zombie outbreak and escape with his life. Gameplay The game is mission structured, as Frank receives missions known as scoops. These scoops will provide further insight into the story and progress the game. Frank will find himself going from point A to Point B to pick up these scoops, usually to either save someone or encounter one of the games many psychopaths (bosses). What sets it self apart from other games is that the game takes place in real time, and the real challenge comes from managing your time. For example, you could be on one side of the mall and find yourself having to rush over half the mall to get a scoop before a certain time, if you miss out, then that's it; the game will no longer give you scoops, and you are more or less free to free roam for the remaining time, or reload the game. The system is intriguing, but some people find themselves cursing the game; since the save system is often unforgiving because you can only save in designated areas. You may find it impossible to finish the game in your current play through because of this design. Practically everything you see is a weapon, but every weapon will eventually deteriorate or run out of ammo. Conventional weapons like blades and guns exist, but there are many absurd or creative weapons to find in every store. There are Weapons of mass destruction like chainsaws, gigantic battle axes, and sledgehammers, absurd weapons that have varying effects: like squirt guns, frisbees, pies, and even store mannequins. Food exists as your source of health, and it's even possible to cook the food for greater effect. Drinks exist that you can blend together for different buffs like faster move speed and attraction of zombies. Food and management thereof plays a greater role in the survival mode. Lastly, there are many books and magazines laying around that will give you certain unique passive effects as long as they remain in your inventory (effects such as increased item longevity or more health from food are the big ones). A big part of the gameplay is saving survivors and hauling their asses back to the safe house. The experience can either be rewarding or incredibly infuriating, but luckily, it's not required to save the majority of them. The AI survivors just love to find ways to make you question your faith in God, as they constantly find new ways to show off their stupidity. Once you learn how to manage them, the experience becomes slightly more entertaining, but you really have to babysit them to make sure they do not die on the trek back to safety. A few tips: Never trust the survivors to follow you, and when at all possible, direct them to move on their own to a certain point. This will make it easier to keep zombies off of them as they move. Never give them any weapons capable of mass destruction, since they will periodically (by periodically, I mean all the fucking time) shoot you or other survivors, dealing massive damage or outright death. Finally, the last aspect of gameplay almost never comes into play is photography itself. At any time, you can stop and take a picture of the action and gain experience points. while somewhat amusing, it's only mandatory in a few rare situations. Experience can also be earned from killing zombies, completing scoops, and rescuing survivors, and will strengthen Frank up and give him access to many vital moves that will help clear the zombie horde, but the only one you really want is the DOUBLE LARIAT (caps for emphasis). The double lariat is so effective, that you'll find yourself using it in every situation. Characters Frank West "I've covered wars, ya know." Frank West is the most awesome photographer ever. If you need some sort of proof to back that statement up, he can literally disembowel zombies using his bare fists. [sp]Frank is infected during the course of the game, and his future after the events of the first game are unknown. [/sp] Jessie McCarney She has some nice tits She works for homeland security. She is working with Brad. [sp]She dies, and becomes a strangely erotic zombie.[/sp] Brad Garrison The black guy Also works for homeland security. Trying to track down Doctor Barnaby. [sp]Unsurprisingly, he bites the dust as well, living up to his namesake.[/sp] Otis Washington The annoying dick Otis has one mission, and he does it with unwavering persistence. He will annoy the shit out of you, calling at seemingly the worst times to give you scoops. If he is interrupted at anytime, he will call back and bitch at you. Frank West is literally in hell, and Otis is the devil. Doctor Barnaby The old guy Doctor Barnaby was involved with the incident at Santa Cabeza, and has never gotten over his guilt. Carlito wants him dead. [sp]The old man kicks the bucket, but not before infecting Jessie with the zombie virus.[/sp] Isabella Keyes Some sort of scientist Isabella is the sister of the antagonist of Dead Rising. She and Frank eventually team up to stop her brother. [sp]She somehow concocts a represent drug to slow the process of zombification, utilizing nothing but materials found in the mall. This is the same drug that Chuck is trying to procure in Dead Rising 2.[/sp] Carlito Keyes This is the bad guy. You need people like him so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." Carlito and his sister sparked the zombie outbreak in Willamette to avenge the destruction of their family and home. The US government was to blame, since their secret experiments went haywire and resulted in the undesired creation of zombies. [sp]Carlito has the last laugh, as he infected 50 orhpans with the zombie plague and spread them across all the states in the USA. How he managed to do this is impressive, but he's still an asshole.[/sp] Available on 360, PS3, and PC Map: [img_thumb]http://fast1.onesite.com/capcom-unity.com/user/jgonzo/large/1dce25716a0d1ed3bd882494d648cacf.jpg?v=217800[/img_thumb] Story You play as Chuck Greene 5 years after the events of the first game. Zombies are pretty much a known hassle now, and the human race has learned to just shut up and deal with it. The setting is Fortune City, modeled after Las Vegas. Chuck is a motorcross champion who is trying to raise funds to afford more zombie repression drug to keep his daughter alive. Chuck finds himself framed for the sudden outbreak of zombisim in Fortune City, and must find a way to prove his innocence.
A video relating to the story, this pretty much sets up the main plot, so if you wish for that to be a surprise don't watch it, also there are more vids here related to gameplay.Video Here
Gameplay The game plays very similar to the first title, and retains the time management mechanic from the first game (there will be multiple save slots this time around). However, the photography system has been removed. Several new gameplay elements have been added in. The biggest of which is the combination system. Chuck can combine many weapons together (There are around 500 items in the game to experiment with) to make entirely new and more lethal weapons. Examples of combinations are an electric rake, which is a car battery combined with a rake, a lethal football known as the Hail Mary, which is a grenade strapped to a football, and a paddlesaw, which is two chainsaws attached to a kayak paddle. You can also collect money in the game, which can be used to buy premade combo weapons. Reportedly, the amount of zombies on screen has increased from the original game's 800 to 6,000. Finally, perhaps the most exciting of news is the announcement of online coop. At any time, someone can join your game and help you complete the story. Both players will play as Chuck Greene, but only the host will be able to progress the story. The coop mode is only available online. In addition to online coop, there are also unique competitive modes available online. Characters Chuck Greene "I know my way around a zombie or two." Chuck Greene is a motocross champion who suddenly finds himself in a world of trouble. To raise the money he needs to afford the medicine for his daughter's illness, he competes in a game show (Terror is Reality) where the zombies involved are killed and humiliated. Shortly after his arrival in Fortune City, he finds himself framed for the current zombie outbreak. Katey Greene Chuck's Daughter Katey is infected with the zombie virus, and is Chuck's main motivation throughout the game. Stacey Forsythe Zombie Rights Activist Stacey is fighting for the rights of zombies, and actively opposes the Terror is Reality gameshow. She, and other activists, want the government to continue developing the zombie repression drug, zombrex, and find a cure for the zombies. She is Chuck's ally, seen monitoring the security cameras and watching over Katey. She is this game's Otis, so let's hope for the best. WEAPON COMBINATIONS Chuck can create Combo Weapons by visiting one of the many maintenance rooms scattered around Fortune City. Combo Cards are earned as you progress/level up but you can combine items without having its Combo Card, however, those will not give you any extra PP and will not have any heavy attack. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/AiAeg.jpg[/img_thumb] TERROR IS REALITY "Terror is Reality" is the competitive multiplayer of Dead Rising 2. The multiplayer consists of 4 matches where players compete for cash which can be transfered to the main game. There are currently 9 games to compete in. 1: Ball Buster Doors open to reveal zombies behind them. The first person to shoot them gets points. Bonus zombies give special powers and jackpots. 2: Bounty Hunter Snipe Zombies from afar. Bonus zombies award points, while hitting the special target will reward jackpots and bonuses. 3: Headache Slap blender hats on zombies and hit a button to kill them. The more zombies you kill in one go increases the points you earn. Dynamite can kill zombies, so use it wisely. 4: Master Shafter Players rush to marked spots to capture zombies that are being launched into the air. Players can challenge each other to steal the spot and the zombie. 5: Pounds Of Flesh With special equipment, players hurl zombies through the air onto a platform. 6: Ramsterball Players inside giant hamster balls, and one person is marked. The marked player is the only one who can score, and the other players must ram into him to steal the mark. 7: Slicecycles Slice through zombies with a motorcycle with chainsaws. Bonus zombies award more points. This is always the final game of TIR. 8: Stand Up Zomedy Players dress the zombies up with three articles of clothing. Bonus points are rewarded for dressing zombies up completely and for stopping the others from doing the same. 9: Zomboni Run over zombies and collect their blood. Then shoot the blood into special collectors to gain points. That was fast. Glad to see a new thread up. I just got the game and I'm having fun with it so far.
How do I install a save game?
Why must everyone know Slappy?!?
Hey guys, is it possible to save 50 survivors without doing any of the cases?
Yes, [sp]but don't expect a happy ending.[/sp]
Can I get them all from missions? Or do I have to get a bunch of the mission-less ones also? Is there any list where I can find all of the ones without a message connected to them?
Did I do the right thing by [sp] giving TK zombrex? [/sp]
Did I do the right thing by [sp] giving TK zombrex? [/sp]
[sp]It gives you the true(S) ending, so yes[/sp]

No one in the last thread explained to me the cause of zombie outbreak. I haven't played dr1 and do not intend to, so please tell me. With SP tags obviously.
