I thought it didn't have co-op. Isn't it only single player?
Will there be co-op?
Co-op is not planned for the initial release. However adding some form of co-op play will be one of our focuses after the initial release of the game.
Jesus I've been watching this for over a year and now the alpha is coming out soon. Definitely can't wait for the 22nd, have they released any (predicted) system specs?

i read that the trailers used a 660gtx and that amd cards still have to be explored in terms of optimization.
I wonder if there are objectives (ex. search a cave for clues) or some sort of endgame.
the story is completly optional they said. There are clues and story information all over the map, is up to you to mix up the pieces, if you want.
One of the few games that I'm legitimately interested in it. It probably because there's not much information about it.

me too, as far as i have read its going to be pretty awesome. Just because it got the blur and the animations right im fully interested.
Loving the fact that the devs are including a houseboat (background of trailer 2, :35) in this as not only a home but as transportation. I've been wondering how they're going to make it so people who chose to hide also have options of base building, they said that the tribesman would try and destroy your structures, so does that mean that if you play stealthily that you won't be able to settle down and avoid confrontation?

i dont really know but what i did read was that its probably impossible to avoid combat.
i dont really know but what i did read was that its probably impossible to avoid combat.
What i understood is that you can avoid combat but then it will be impossible to build large structures.
Wow, this look pretty incredible, will have to pick this up when its out.
holy fuck this is amazing

i mean in a way that eventually you wil have to fight the mutants in your playthrough.
Constant movement and stealth is essential here. The mutants, even as they sleep at daytime and hunt at night, they will go stalk on you anytime. If you kill a mutant, the family, in groups, will go search for it and try to kill you if they find out.
As i write this im hyping pretty bad to be honest.
Looks like I'm gonna have to save up for a new computer to run this game.

yeah me too. Just tried Slender The Arrival which is the same engine and similar looking...and ran like shit.

Well I don't think (could be very wrong here) that The Arrival was in development for a very long time, odds are it probably isn't that well optimized.
If this game really does use unity than odds are it depends on how it's developed/what the settings are, games like Rust and The Dead Linger are made in unity but Rust lags on my computer with everything on/high. But with The Dead Linger (large worlds, lots of foliage and trees) I can run with the farthest view distances and foliage on. Plus with the extra year they've been developing it since the last predicted release date odds are they've worked on optimization. (This whole post was probably written out so that I can convince myself that my rig can run this game)
I better get this one!

its perfect
This looks awesome I remember seeing the first trailer got hyped and forgot about it. The game is so pretty and the little animals really add to making the forest feel alive. Also like the fact that you can literally chop down a tree unlike in most survival games.
Despite the fact I will be playing almost exclusively in the horror mode it is nice to know they are including a straight up survival mode with all of the horror stuff turned off for those that want to play it that way as this game looks so nice just for surviving.

it would be cool if the pacific mode included the mutants but they didnt give a fuck.
this game is pretty
The amount of reaction videos that will come out of this game.

Kinda like a check box in the options menu if you want mutants around or not when playing peacefully. Would be cool as it would allow you to get up close and see all of the details of the models without them trying to rip your face off.
[editline]6th April 2014[/editline]
Looking 20 seconds into the 3rd video it is cool that they try to retrieve their dead family members.
It looks awesome but not sure if I want to Early Access it.

thats one of the particular things this game is doing. The mutants work in a family like system, where they will know whenever one is missing or not. The amount of stuff in the world is limited too, meaning you can eventually kill all the mutants, eat all the animals or whatever, it would take months, said the developers, like, real time months to run out of resources, but what this does is that there will be no bullshit respawn for enemies or unfair placing of mutants for the player.

This makes me wonder about the endgame, the devs said in their Q&A that the big, special types of mutants would only come out after a certain amount of time. So I'm wondering if they are always there but hiding, or if they are actually spawned in at a certain time within the game.
One of the main questions in my head is can sharks sink your house boat if you use the boat, because mutants (hopefully) wouldn't be able to swim in the ocean. It was said that you can use the boat to go to other, smaller islands. So if you cleared out the smaller island would that make it some sort of haven for the player? This game probably won't help get rid of my fear of the ocean, or water in games.

thats sounds awesome. But i think sharks and mutants wont make it so easy to clear an entire island. They said its very probable to end up dying just by fighting a mutant, and that sharks were pretty brave.

In the Q&A they talk about how mutans are a finite number and exist from the start and never respawn, meaning in theory you can kill every mutant on the island.
Makes me think the bigger mutants probably do spawn at the start, and they just stay inside the caves for starters.
So you can't respawn in the same world when you die and have to start over?
that's pretty cool..
